*scratches head* how does that work then? the rouble is dropping against the Euro/Stirling/RMB etc... just saying they can buy and sell in their own currency makes little to no difference as it does not make a German or Chinese Tractor any cheaper by saying that, it does not change the impact on exports/imports

And then explain why Iran turned to EU and offered to replace Russia in supplying the EU with gas, that does not seem the action of a Russian puppet.

And Iran can only close one side of the strait, it could argue that side is within it's waters, but the other half is not, unless you are suggesting Iran should invade another state and take control of their territorial waters?

Go back in history. Iran, when push came to shove, always went with the West in some form. It did so in WWII when it allied with Germany - and is having a coming out party once again. Altogether, we're looking at the disintegration of the Russian Federation, the Eurasian Union before it even gets going, AND the EU as nationalist movements explode this year all over. Of course, the USA is in the mix, too as it's internal contradictions and fractures tear it all down. A new world is being born - just not the one many imagined....

And be bombed to stone age the next night, invaded and ''rebuilded'' (have their oil stolen Irak-like)

Iran has always been a puppet of some major power, it sits at the crossroads of the world island and thus under the careful gaze of all who want to be king of the world...

For most of the last few hundred years that was bumping of heads over who was puppeteer was between Britain and Russia, but when Britain and Russia join hands Iran turns to some 3rd party, France/Germany/USA dependent on who is ascendant in that era.. generally though when it comes to outright conflict Iran falls back to Britain and Russia.. two of the last 2 world wars can testify to Anglo-Russian invasions of Iran.

But as you say, the world is changing, but how? I for one are not so confident to say who will end on what side.. Britain/Russia have more often than not started on opposite sides shaking fists at each other but then generally ended up on the same side..

I am not saying that will happen now, just examples that we can never be sure what games are actually in play, especially when it comes to Iran.
