watching... waiting... User ID: 66947279 United States 01/14/2015 11:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In 1968 -when I was 15 years old- I and a friend both saw a disc-shaped UFO. His Dad was in the Air Force and told him about Project Blue Book. I decided to write the Pentagon and get a copy. About a month later, it arrived in a plain manila envelope from DC. It was small. Standard typing paper sheets folded in half and stapled and it really did have a pale blue cover. Only about 80 pages or so, it was mostly text with a few scattered debunking photographs... in fact, the entire thing reeked of cover-up. Bear in mind: I had already begun to distrust the U.S. government several years before when Kennedy was killed. In 1964 my family took a trip to Dallas and I made a point of sitting in the same seat position as JFK when my Dad drove slowly along Elm St. retracing the motorcade's route roughly one year later [we were there in late Oct '64 but it was just after noon]. Luckily: my Dad always drove Lincolns so even the car was similar. When I looked back over my shoulder to see the angle the shots were supposed to have traveled it was clear even to my 11-yr old eyes that the Oswald story was pure crap. So, it was especially clear to me five years later that Project Blue book was, too. Wish I still had that little volume! An earlier 1966 version is currently selling on Ebay for $120.00 but it's different from the one I got. It's only got 11 pages but they're full-sized. Mine was smaller and thicker. The envelope sure looks the same, though! |
