Hey glp, I was one of the one of the people who shared our family need story for the GLP Christmas thing. Recently we have a need for a good used vehicle as one we had is done for. Any guidance on how to get the cheapest quality vehicle out there? Anybody have an uncle or know a website or way to score at a police auction or something like that? Just looking for some good wisdom. Thanks!

Craigslist. If you have a mechanic buddy, buy a non-running car for cheap and fix it.

Wait a minute, if you are truly "needy", how do you have time to browse glp and have access to internet?

Stop living in poverty and create your own wealth!

Money is energy (currency) and you can generate it from "nothing."

Research:

Law of attraction.
The secret.
Anthony Robbins.
Abraham Hicks.

Bit torrent e books and tutorials from www.kickass.to

You can change your situation if you want to!

God bless.

Shall I just rephrase my question, what's the best place/way to buy a sub $3,000 car that's not a fricking lemon?

If you go to a main dealer, then check the part exchange section, most have them online, they give the cars a full service before selling them on.

Also to have 3k to spend on a car is not very needy, but I suppose, one mans riches is anothers change :)

Also if you research the car you want, often they hakve reviews, in those reviews you will be told what to look out for, like the bmw tourer always needs new shocks and the rear diff goes on them so you are told to listen out for humming.

google is very helpful if you are persistant enough with your searches.

well I said 3K max, because a family of 6 in anything less than that is probably relying on an unstable set of wheels.

At convenience stores there are little magazines called Swapper and things like that. They have an auto section.

But you might be better off going through a dealer. IDK.

Op I went through a similar situation when my families only car cracked a head and water was leaking from exhaust pipe.

It was too expensive for us to fix so I took to CL.

I put up an ad asking for someone to have a little faith left in humanity and help.

Within a day a man contacted me who had a car he'd let go for any downpayment I could do and monthly payments of what I could afford.

I gave him my laptop as a down payment and he gave us the car and title.

Needless to say I paid it off early in fact and when times got better for my family we got another car.

Shortly after that a friend went in need of a car and we was able to pass that one on to her for free.

Eventually she got another and passed that one on to her son who later blew up the motor but hey, he got some use out of it too lol.

We named it the good karma car and paassed it around.

Put your need out there and watch what happens.
Good luck Op!hf

Call the county you live in and local townships. Most usually have auctions on used vehicles or those impounded that were never released. Good luck.

Something you can work on yourself.

Something with available parts.

Not Toyaota, because they seem to seel trucks to the ISIS fuckers, so fuck them.

Get something used, cheap, reliable with lots of parts. In my country, Chevy trucks are the best ones, they'r everywhere.

Sometimes a 3k can be as risky as a 1k ride. If you need cheap reliable transportation for a large family a pontiac transport, olds silhouette sometimes lumina minivan with a 3800 motor the sweet spot is 90-95 years plus they are made of fiberglass plastic no rust.

If you find one with low miles get it (heck even 180k )they usually are good to go another 100k. Buy one for a grand and save till you can get a better ride.

A car I would go with an 88-93 Saab 900s even with higher miles they can go a loong time. They are metal but made right even 15-20 yrs old they still can look great because they knew what they was doing.

All older cars you won't be ballen but best bang for the buck. Till you can get something else. Good luck!

Maybe it's just my town that does this but thought I'd throw it out there anyway. A couple of the body shops are taking some of the cars "totalled" by insurance companies & fixing them up instead of sending to junk yard. When the car is done they pick a needy person to give it to. The local radio station keeps doing stories on it and it's good pr for the body shops that are doing it. The cars they have done stories on don't seem to be more than 10 yrs old and many newer than that.

A couple of mechanics are pitching in also if the car also needs some mechanical work besides body work. They seem to be giving away a car every few months.

It was a smart move for these body shops because everyone calling into these shows say that they will change over to these body shops to promote the program.

Also check CL, for 2-3k you should be able to pick up a used Crown Vic police vehicle. They are built to last (classified as a Fleet Vehicle) and are serviced every 3k miles.

2004 and up are the best years, cab companies pick them up and drive them for years.

Parts are cheap and interchangeable from 2003 and up, most junkyards will have any parts you may need
