The computer that can predict the SUN: AI system forecasts devastating solar flares that could knock out power grids on Earth
•Artificial intelligence helped analyse patterns in the sun's magnetic lines

•It found that the energy stored in the magnetic field can forecast flares

•The next step would be to incorporate data from the sun's atmosphere

•Soon, Stanford researchers say the computer could help predict when flares will cause widespread power outages on Earth before they form

Artificial intelligence is helping astronomers predict deadly solar flares that have the potential to cause havoc on Earth.

US researchers say their super computer can provide advance warning of solar eruptions, which can release energy equivalent to 100 billion atomic bombs.

The flares arise from twisted magnetic fields that occur all over the sun's surface, and they increase in frequency every 11 years - a cycle that is now at its maximum.

On Earth, they can cause widespread power outages and severely damaging critical infrastructure.

Using artificial intelligence, Stanford University solar physicists Monica Bobra and Sebastien Couvidat have automated the study solar flares.

They looked at the largest ever set of solar observations at the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) to find patterns in something known as 'vector magnetic lines'.

These describe the strength and direction of magnetic fields on the solar surface.

INTJ women - 0.8% of the population

Rules, limitations and traditions are anathema to the INTJ personality type - everything should be open to questioning and reevaluation, and if they see a way, INTJs will often act unilaterally to enact their technically superior, sometimes insensitive, and almost always unorthodox methods and ideas.

Carrington 2.0?
 Quoting: Dr. Ben Schillen

Possibly, it's happened once that that we know of and it may well have happened before we had anything electrical to be affected by it, but the gist of the article is that people much smarter than me have developed a computer system that can help predict solar flares and their strength more accurately. The title is the usual daily mail sensationalism, I think, but it's an interesting article nonetheless.

The devil who kept them bound through the fear of death.....

Why believe that the 'carrington event' was even what they claim it was?
Who gains something by us believing it?
Does not believing that it can happen and is caused by the sun, in reality handing an alibi and cover to men who can then use them to bring down the electrical grid, the electrical grid by the way that they created? Of course it does. A most convenient alibi as the people are swayed to hold religious beliefs no different than Aztec people who freely sacrificed its people to appease these unseen forces as gods....

Good Point...just another way to keep us down, make good use of fear..and they put all the nuclear plants on various dangerous places.
