Bugging out entails leaving everything you are, and everything you own, and everything you use, day in and day out, and everything you cannot carry or transport with you, behind. Not only behind, but inaccessible, unusable and abandoned. Potentially forever.

I think the most important aspect is some associates that you can completely trust.

You have to sleep sometime, and you will need 24 hour watches, or an extremely good hiding space.

Buy some fake stage blood. Pour it on your head and down your face. When someone comes to take your stuff, say "you're too late, a bunch of guys already came through here and beat the crap out of me and took everything." Of course your house should have stuff strewn all about to look like it was ransacked.

About 3 weeks after SHTF is when people's psychotropic meds will start running out. Then you'll see some serious stuff you'll wish you had never seen.

I'd say it totally depends on who you surround yourself with.
