Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world where women are banned from driving cars, among other restrictions

Many have criticized Mr Obama and former presidents for not pushing the oil-rich Saudis on their women's rights record

Former Vice President Dick Cheney was one of Obama's most vocal critics and said an American leader should never bow to anyone. However, a State Department spokesperson at the time told CNN that, "It's a natural response of the President the first time he meets the Japanese head of state, to show a sign of respect."

Seems like Glen Beck thinks she should have done it out of respect? Compared this to not shaking hands with an Orthodox jewish woman.

Last time he went to Saudi Arabia she did not go and there was a firestorm with all kinds of conjecture about why she didn't go.

She probably was making a statement about the status of women there.

They are saying she wore the head covering in Indonesia.

I'm NOT for forcing women to wear a head covering, burka etc. BUT I do think that Michelle SHOULD have worn a head scarf to the funeral, as a show of respect for their culture.

Not sure what game she's playing with this, but when you go to someone else's country you RESPECT the culture. And as first lady, you are supposed to represent your country and be respectful. Even Angelina Jolie who is vehemently against head covering women, wears a veil when she visits certain countries as a show of respect.

I agree with others who think she would have been damned if she did and damned if she didn't.

Doesn't matter. When I visited India, I was told by the travel agent to wear modest clothing. It's respectful to their culture. I didn't run out and buy a sari and a veil, but I did wear long skirts, long baggy pants with long tunics and sometimes I did put a scarf on my head because the sun was incredibly hot.

Oh and the fact that the men there on the street will grab at your ass if you wear immodest clothing. That's just how it is there.
