The thing is, Michelle DID wear a headscarf when she was in Indonesia. There's a picture or two of her with it on, and I can say, it wasn't a pretty sight. But why did she wear it the one time, and not on the other?

Well if the SA protocol officer requested her wear a scarf ...then she was in error and insulted them. After all it's not like she had to make a public appearance like the President.

Out of curiosity anyone know Germany's Merkel went and did she scarf up?

Absolutely. I have traveled all over the world, and before I go to a different country, I always try to learn their customs. Example: When I traveled to Kuwait, even though it was 102 degrees F, I covered my arms....at least 1/2 way.

I thought Obama and the first lady are in Saudi to attend the funeral of King Abdullah. I thought that's why they believed she should have worn a scarf to the funeral.

His funeral was 5 days ago, Obama was only there because he cut his India trip short to pay his respects.
