Keep a day to day calendar and X out every clean day. Reward yourself with treats and good dinners. When you discover how much more awesome your sleep is, you'll be more addicted to that then the alcohol. And start keeping the $$ you would have spent on the liquor in a special jar. When you get a good stash buy yourself a prize. Try to make it a fun, interesting experiment rather than an awful chore.

Take a pic of yourself now. Then compare it to how you look at the end of one month.

I quit weed a week ago and soda.. I used to drink 2-3 sodas a day and smoke weed with tobacco for 10 years.. I quit it cold turkey.. I'm having withdrawal symptoms.. Sweats ,shakes , insomnia , anxiety.. Just feel like a different person.. For alcohol I don't recommend quitting cold turkey its bad for your heart. You need to take small steps.

That also scares me.. but, one beer and it's over. What's a guy supposed to do? Hell, I haven't even gone over 8 hours yet - but, WTF... I've got to try.

Sounds wonderful - and I will take up most of your suggestions. Except the picture - I'm fairly old now and don't expect my photos to get any better down the line.

If you are old and alcohol dependant, then you need to phase out the drink. Otherwise you are risking a cardiac event.

Reply with how much and what you normally drink everyday and i will give a plan.

I'm 59 and drink about 18+ or so beers a day. No hard stuff in over 20 years.

I'm afraid of a cardiac event - but, I am also afraid that if I drink just one more beer, I will lose my resolve.

Prepare yourself for the fact that you are going to have another beer.

Ive bben there and the overwhelming odds say you will have another drink.

So do yourself and your heart and nerves a favor, phase it out.

Find a sleep inducing agent via a doctor or the dang drug store.

Dont drink at all ever during daylight while yiu phase out.

As bed time closes in, take the sleep agent and drink your phased down amount of beer.

Reduce the amount of beer every two days until you are at none.

Dont take the sleep agent more than ten days.

Get lots of exercise and be ready for sugar cravings

I drank heavily for over 20 years and if I went 3 days without drinking it was a long time for me.

Now I've got almost 20 years in since my last drink. I didn't go to AA/NA or quit till it got so bad stopping drinking looked better than continuing to drink. Now I don't even remember what I saw in it and only wish I had stopped sooner.

You can do it, it just takes willpower. If AA works for you, go for it. It just wasn't for me.

Smoking and drinking at the same time? Brave man.
But it can be done. You can do it. I'm the weakest of all and I did it. I will believe in you.
If they say it's true, it probably isn't.

Try taking mega doses of Vit c, read up on it on GLP and the net, it will naturally cure your craving because booze and C don't mix...

I drink 7-9 beers a night, but it is light beer, so mostly water, and I like it. I only drink at night unless on vacation. I think you should look into gradual reduction, not cold turkey, also it is quite possible you are allergic to yeast which has this addictive effect when drinking beer. It isn't alcohol, it is yeast.

good luck.

their stories will suck.

their stories will make you depressed.

you will meet some fucked up people.

Perhaps you are also fucked up.

well maybe you thought you were, till you hear some of their stories.

when it is all said and done.

however.

you.

will have to decide to drink or not.

besides you want to drink all the time?
1. You will die before you are 40
2. You will blow out your kidneys, liver, pancreas

40 is not that far.

If you are young a young fuck, you might do stupid shit like drive a car, hang out with people who are retarded and get in trouble.

Perhaps even fall in love, have a child.

I've made up my mind to quit drinking today.

Hey, drinking is for adults, people who are settled, have money, have a job, responsibilities and intent to keep their shit.

Drinking unlike exposed in the USA is not for kids, college students, youngsters who have no idea where they are or are going.

If you drink in USA stop. USA promotes alcohol abuse.

Stop.

Alcohol is no different than anything else, do not aggrandize it.

If you are under 25 you probably have most problem with alcohol because USA society tells you it is like butter, coffee.

It is not.

It is a drug. A substance that can affect your sensibilities. Effect your mind.

Alcohol is one of the worst drugs, intoxicants on the planet earth, and USA society and most of world encourages its over consumption and use.

If you find yourself subject or servant to alchohol, start smoking weed.

Weed, sex, literature save you.

It has worked past 1900 years.

Much love,

I'm reading about the dangers of cold turkey for the last few hours. Pretty scary stuff. I suppose I need to taper off - but that is also scary. Just sounds like another excuse to me for drinking again.

So perhaps 2-3 beers before bed? IDK!

drama queens never quit anything of note.

Nobody every quit anything of significance after declaration.

People do not quit alcohol.

They die of it.

Lol, if you are talking about quitting the probability is greater than 50% you will succumb.

In essence OP if your genuine your fucked.

Alcohol for you? Well you could be living in poverty, without internet, without electricity, without available fresh water, Ukraine, Syria, Middle East, Northern Iraq.

Perhaps a Palestinian, or a JEW.

You heavily invested in the stock market?

I say drink, drink for me too, then drink again.

Posting here makes you a attention seeker, most pathetic of pathetic.

I stroked you once, others for a twice, now you sleep, no?

Alcohol? Shut the fuck up about alcohol.

Alcoholism is a symptom, privilege of the prestige.

You should be so lucky, no log off and go get fucked.
