What does it mean when despite all the money getting poured into the world economic activity is still slowing down? It's like flooding the carburetor of an engine. No matter how much you press the gas peddle the engine won't go. What does this mean for investors? Every time the Fed threatens to raise interest rates, just laugh and buy more stock because they can't without sending the world into a steep recession. The Fed is toothless. Like when you pay for that cheeseburger. The more robust an economy the more dollars being exchanged. When velocity drops it means ALOT and effects alot. It means business SUCKS..taxes on revenue is dropping etc. Its NOT GOOD at all..basically the economy is SLOWING DOWN...uh huh...but dont let OBama tell you that.. |

The reason why I say this is because, you're gonna see it. Traders will take an advantage of this situation. Now this is not for your newbie investors, because most likely they will get stuck holding the bag. But shrewd investors will profit from this, until they know when to exit the market. Then stocks will tumble like Niagara falls. Its like a super asset bubble that's coming our way. Does a sky rocketing market mean the economy is good? Hell no. The fundamentals are so broke, but that's not to stop people from trying to make a buck while they can. There is a small reserve requirement but beyond that the M2 would show a greater velocity. M2 would be tough to manipulate. Same as the Baltic Dry Index which is also extremely low now. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 67583759 United Kingdom 02/01/2015 02:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So money is being hoarded instead of being spent? Why has M1 increased so dramatically (isn't it just physicla notes and coins?)? When the gov borrows 'money' which is created out of thin air by the FED, there is no production of extra coins/notes - it's is just T-bills and electronic numbers in a bank account. Can someone explain? The only reason I can think of for such a huge increase in printed bills is for the CIA to use when they take millions of USD notes into foreign countries (i.e. Syria) to fund terror groups like ISIS. We know they take in consignments of millions of notes. |

They have used the weather many many times in their forecasts, press conferences, written reports, etc. We had the blizzard of 2015 two weeks ago. And even though it was not as bad in all areas, people stayed home and did not work/spend, so now they must print money to make up for that loss of economic activity, right? |

Its the show pony of the true strength of any economy as it shows how much money is being exchanged between parties. I used to own a business trade exchange. I.e. Barter company. ALL of our earning were based upon the velocity of trades..much as all tax revenue comes from this velocity. My gawd..so many danger signs around the world..but all is fine. No worries.. |

This is exactly how the FED wants the sheep to react..Hey OP, long can the velocity of money continue at this rate without complete collapse See look at this thread Thread: 2015 to be toughest year since recession !! It's already happening where folks are buying stock. The corps getting ready to buy back their own stock. Opportunists will jump on to buy at the beginning of the trade session and sell at the end of the trade session. As to how long? I think it really depends on the geo political situation of Russia. With, oil prices low the Fed can opt to raise the price of energy by printing more dollars, that's a little bit of wiggle room, but its more like a controlled crash at this point. When you see a fast exit from the market, the jigs up, and I'm talking circuit breakers and all, not some stupid 200 point drop. I'm talking about suspended trading. By then the people who had exited 24 hours earlier will be sipping pina coladas in their bunkers, while carnage rolls on the street.
