While in college I came across an old text book on surveying. My own studies paralleled surveying to a degree so I decided to buy the book. It was tattered and decrepit looking so the book store was only asking 50 cents.

Anyway, I read this book over the next several weeks while going about my classes and it dawned on me that this text book was way better than any of my new books. It was written in the late 1940s.There was no pictures or insets, just a few simple sketches. It read logically and simply from beginning to end. Everything was so straight forward.

And this book which was only mid way in size between a paper back novel and a standard text book, and which had maybe 300 pages at most, was equivalent in content to 3 of my books.
