Brief History of Jordans King
King Abdullah II is the son of the late King Hussein.
King Husseins grandfather sided with the Brits ( fought with Lawrence)and fought against the Ottoman Turks.
The blood line of the family traces back to Hasan, the grandson of the prophet Mohamed- son of Ali,and a saint to Shiites.

The titles of the Hashemites include King of Jordan,King of Syria,King of Iraq,Imam of Yemen,King of Hejaz, and Sharif of Mecca.

This family has the legitimate claim to the muslim holy lands in Saudi Arabia, and the leadership of the Islamic world.
They have the ability to reunite factional Islam, and the moral authority to depose the house of Saud.

I would suspect that if he leads a raid, the threat will not be ISIS but Saudi accidently shooting him down.
He is the man that can end muslim extremism. He is western but muslim.
Me thinks the Saudi Royals are getting very nervous.
I know enough to know that I know nothing

lol, he is a joke even in his own country. The man can barely speak Arabic as he is an American. I hope he continues to oppress the retards in his own country but you have to truly be delusional to think he can even take out ISIS let alone unite the muslim, or even Arab, world.

He was never even trying to take them out, just contain support for them within his own country, as they have significant popularity in Jordan.

He is using this event to try and change that, just like he let loose salafis in his prisons who took an anti-ISIS stance.

We will see how it works, my guess, it won't be wildly successful. Could be temporarily with billions of dollars given by the US, as he could buy a modicum of support temporarily.

But Jordan does not have the oil wealth of the countries like Saudi Arabia, nor the nationalism of countries like Egypt. It has a very poor, uneducated, and conservative populace.

the only thing that is a positive is it is a small population with a King American himself, so American support won't go against him like Gaddafi, American support would do the opposite if needed. But Abdullah won't be able to lead anything besides Jordan, even that is not an easy task.

Because he was raised in the US during his formative, attending boarding school from 6th through 12th grades.

But maybe you want to call him British? As his mother is English and before Eaglebrook, he was raised and educated in England, after graduating from Deerfield, then continuing his education in the UK.

Whatever you want to call him, he didn't even speak Arabic when he took control of his country, and he has incredibly close ties with the US, and praises his time spent their claiming it is what made him who he is. So, how is he Jordanian if he does not even speak Levantine/Jordanian Arabic fluently?

The idea this man is going to unite the Arab world is really funny.

This is just semantics, as he is of course technically 'Jordanian,' as he is the fucking king. Culturally, he is more American, hence the accent and why he quotes Clint Eastwood instead of Winston Churchill.

Self-concept is complex, particularly with someone of such a background. The point is, he has much closer ties with the Americans now, than the British.

Agree 100%. The Saudi family must be a bit uneasy over the charismatic king.

I have not read about it for sometime, so it's lost in dusty memory banks, but the Hashemites and Saudi's have battled before over Arabia/Mecca..like in actual warfare. It was long ago, but the reasons are still there.

Wasn't that long ago, the Saudis pushed the Hashemites out of their Kingdom of Hejaz in 1925.

The Saudis however prefer the Hashemites in power in Jordan now. They fear the Arab spring, hence why they even support Sisi, they don't want any uprisings, the last thing they want is another uprising on their border.

Although, now with Salman in power I don't know what he is thinking, just what Abdullah of Saudi Arabia was. And Abdullah of Jordan was not mentally ill like his own grandfather or gaddafi, he had no intentions of even taking on the Saudis, despite OPs delusions.

Had me thinking, if anyone wants to watch a good fictional show, watch Tyrant, it is loosely based on the al-Hussein Hashemite family.
