* He also said that hippies, rock music, and drugs were part of a diabolical rising tide of immorality, and demonstrated that the end of the world must surely be nigh.

* In 1980, Lindsey published The 1980s: Countdown to Armageddon, making the prediction that a pre-tribulational rapture would take place in 1981, seven years before Israel’s fortieth anniversary as a reestablished nation, because the founding of Israel set off a "prophetic clock" which committed Jesus to wrap things up within a "generation" (i.e. 40 years). When Jesus didn't return in 1981 or 1988, he said that a generation could be 70 years, so Jesus should return before 2018.

Of course, Y2K was a bust, and 2007 passed without Armageddon happening, so we're back to the 70 year generation idea. So maybe 2018, but 2037 for sure.

Now to address your points, Russia WILL be assigned the role of the leader of the forces opposing america and the west during orchestrated war world war iii. not the soviet union in name but the same country albeit under a different political state, which is pretty much different only in name. there doesnt just have to be one group opposing the west during wwiii, both the islamists and russia will ally, hal lindsey simply spoke of both of them as leaders of the faction in wwiii fighting the west.

pre-tribulation rapture is false doctrine, one of several false doctrines hal lindsey endorses (along with his belief that the israeli government is blameless) and his dates are off, but again, not everything he said was accurate. he, like most theologians/philosophers/religious figures, held several inaccurate ideologies. this is no way nullifies his entire message.
