Comedy makes people laugh. It encourages you to 'laugh it off'. When people laugh things off, they do nothing to change it. They hide behind their laughter and allow the horror to go on.

Great article. It says so much about not just John Stewart and his target audience, but the media in general and people who actually think today's talking heads reading teleprompters actually report the news.

I feel the same way about Dick Cheney.

His show has been one of the worst things that's ever happened to the political debate in this country, because too many fucking retards took it as legitimate news.

I have watched Jon Stewart since the 90's and say what you will but there were times back then that the only news I got was from him. I think those who watch Jon Stewart have a better hold on what is happening in the world and in our country than those who watch MSM. Both are entertainment for entertainments sake, but only one claims to be as such.

He presents the headlines like a seasoned troll and I for one love him. I don't always agree with his political point of view or how he presents information but it is my belief that those who turn to Comedy Central for their daily injection of The Daily Show are far better off than those who watch the chicken-heads on faux news.

Right wingers aren't known for their sense of humor. Especially when it requires them to laugh at themselves. That's why you don't see a right wing equivalent to these two. Anyone who tries is taken too seriously by their audience and they fail. Done properly a bizarro-Colbert would be funny stuff. Problem is most conservatives wouldn't get or at least appreciate the sarcasm of an overtly liberal character.
