US airport in 'liquid bomb' alert

A West Virginia airport has been evacuated after a suspect bottle of liquid was discovered in a passenger's carry-on luggage, officials say.
The bottle was subjected to a swab test and a sniffer dog examination and both tested positive for explosives.

A security guard first spotted the bottle in the bag, Tri-State Airport authority chief Jim Booton said.

Officials say the woman is of Pakistani origin and was travelling on a one-way ticket to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Chris Yates from Jane's Aviation told the BBC that both tests were extremely sensitive.

The likelihood that a container that had not come into contact with explosives would come up positive on both tests was extremely low, he said.

The incident comes a week after UK intelligence officers say they foiled a plot to blow up planes using liquid explosives.

Here we go again.

Did anyone hear on the news today that they're banning gel-filled bra's on flights now? I'm not even kidding.

Can you imagine the men in line for that particular inspection? I guess some odd women too... scared

She's a stooge, bet it! She's been hired by the CIA/MI6/Uncle Sam to pose as a terrorist in order to give credibility to the rapidly waning disbelief by the general public that terrorists would carry liquid explosives on board a plane. Yet another STUPID ploy! Did they ever think we'd be so naive as to swallow the story that someone could be stupid enough to travel at this current time of high alert with a bottle of liquid explosive in her bag when she would know with 99.99999% certainty that she'd be detected?

Not that it makes any difference, but it's probably a bottle of Chanel No. 5 or Poison.

AH HA<

SEe, it says < THE WATER BOTTLE TESTED POSITIVE

It does NOT say the liquid was EXPLOSIVE.

SO.

If this woman was around anything that explodes, like dynamite, firecrackeers, and MANY other products, this residue could be on her hands and then on the water bottle.

Lets see, IF there was explosives in the water bottle, then ya got a story. If it was the bottle container tested positive. Then this may be much ado about nothing.

Sounds like more scare mongering. Maybe she shook hands with "someone" that had residue, and that went to the bottle, then that someone helped point her out.

Lets see

Hi kiddies!! Dr. Insano here, and do I have a treat for you! Today we're gonna make a hydrogen bomb out of readily available materials. This bomb will not be radioactive or cause fallout, but it will be enough to damage an aircraft in flight. Now what you'll need are:

2 sealable containers (preferably two-liter soda bottles)

Two lengths of wire (stripped from a wall panel or even better a set of headphones, but in a pinch aluminum foil will have to suffice)

An available low-voltage source (a flashlight battery will do)

The sink in the aircraft lavatory

Aqua Vitae (H20/Water)

(to be continued)

Re: Breaking BBC reporting passenger found with liquid explosive on US plane
The story certainly seems credible.

What is NOT credible is that she just "happened" to be "around explosives or firecrackers" --- RIGHT BEFORE TAKEOFF !!!

Give her 100 lashes on her bare butt, then behead her.

Oh, wait, we are not a muslim country.

Arrest her, jail her with NO BOND, get a grand jury to indict, then a jury trial, then a conviction, then lethal injection for this Pakistani dog.

Don't mess with the U.S.

The above is only kidding...maybe.

Wish I were AC21, but the simple fact is I paid attention in Chemistry class. You can produce enough hydrogen gas from ordinary tap water to cause an explosion, and for obvious reasons I will not divulge the process for synthesizing it.

Re: Breaking BBC reporting passenger found with liquid explosive on US plane
RIGHT BEFORE TAKEOFF,

sorry skippy, it can be several days before the residue leaves you.

And if she touched hands or shook hands, held anything etc then it transfers.

Now that the story is being pulled, looks like more scare and terror Bushco.

Also the statement that two positives are rare etc. Hmmm. don't know about that. It can be a false positive for many reasons.

Having the residue on a bottle is not evidence.

Guys that travel and work with explosives, or law enforcment that have just trained with weapons, or just you, a local guy thats been to the range and had target practice and changed out mags etc.

Lots of reasons to have "residue".

Its no an animal its a machine.

They take a kleenex or something like that and wipe it on the item. That "kleenex" goes to the testing machine. It sniffs for many compounds.

THey did it on a device I took through once overseas. Took them 3 tests to say go ahead.
