[link to www.psychologytoday.com (secure)] Since human health relies on a diet that includes animal-derived nutrients, a debate on the ethics of eating animals should be confined to questions of quantity and quality. How much meat and fish do we need to eat? What is the optimal quality of what we eat? What quality of life is granted to the animals on which our diets depend? As a physician, it seems clear to me that there are considerable health benefits to eating animals. Current epidemiological data support the need for animal-derived nutrients to provide optimal brain health, in particular. For example, B12 and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids essential for the development of a healthy brain are concentrated only in animal products. Excluding animal products from your diet, on the other hand, carries significant risk. A recent survey of 689 men found 52 percent of the 122 vegans were vitamin B12 deficient, which leads to fatigue, depression, decreased cognition, and irreversible nerve damage. As we age, low B12 levels are associated with shrinkage in brain regions related to memory and moods. |

Quoting: Boss Moss [link to www.thegatewaypundit.com] Can a vegan diet save the world? According to a new report from the UN, the answer is “yes.” The Guardian writes that “a global shift towards a vegan diet is vital to save the world from hunger, fuel poverty, and the worst impacts of climate change.” The report notes that the Western preference for meat- and dairy-heavy diets is “unsustainable,” especially as the population is expected to grow to 9.1 billion by 2050. The report adds that “animal products cause more damage than [producing] construction minerals such as sand or cement, plastics or metals.” Plus, livestock raised for meat consumes a large portion of the world’s crops and a lot of freshwater. Currently, agriculture, “particularly meat and dairy products,” account for 70 percent of the world’s freshwater consumption. It also accounts for 39 percent of the globe’s total land use and 19 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions. Importantly, as the population grows, the impact from agriculture will substantially grow as well, thanks to the the increasing consumption of animal products. The report notes that “unlike fossil fuels, it is difficult to look for alternatives.” The only option is to cut down on the number of animal products consumed. Humans are not carnivorous.they are programed into believing they are. Fuck the U.N.what the hell do they care? if you want to be healthy cut out 90% of animals you eat. Do you want to mix animals blood with your human blood ? WHY? |

Bullshit bullshit bullshit. I've never gone vegan, but I did eat a mostly vegetarian diet for a couple of years. My diet consisted of fruits, vegetables, eggs, gluten-free grains, a small amount of butter or olive oil, nuts and seeds with a small amount of fish and on rare occasions a small portion of chicken or beef. This diet may work for some people, but it made me so thin my cheeks were sunken in. I got cold easily and had to wear a lightweight jacket to be able to do my grocery shopping and this was during summertime. My hair started to thin. My skin became very dry. I could no longer absorb all my nutrients and could no longer digest all of my food. I got so sick I thought I was going to die for about 3 months. I found the Weston A. Price Foundation's website and changed my diet. Now I include meat proteins and more healthy fats in my diet and no grains whatsoever. That was a little over 7 years ago and I still have digestive issues. I don't care what the UN says. I'm not giving up my grass fed meat. This is what I had to eat today.
