Thank you for sharing this. It is food for thought for city planners and folks moving to some geographical areas. Drought and impending disasters. I would not want to invest in areas that are over populated and under supplied. How many arid areas are already living on the edge?  Yep. I live in one of those areas... beautiful, remote and... arid. People keep moving here with their city water 'needs' with no concept of what will happen one day soon. The ancient aquifers, slow to recharge, are being tapped and the water tables are dropping at an alarming rate. These newcomers still shower multiple times a day, wash their cars and run the tap while they brush their teeth, along with blogging more idiots into thinking they can have their own little piece of heaven here. It's gonna get real ugly. Ok. So where is all the water going then? We use it and goes into the sewer. Most cities have a treatment plant that reclaims some, not all water. There is lack of rain but the water doesn't leave the planet. Or does it? Think people. Where is it going? If it doesn't rain than the sea levels should be rising or ice/glacial ice should be accelerating somewhere in the world.
