I've stopped freaking out after every minor misfortune and it's really annoying my wife!
We've been running out of money for years, yet we always make it. We've been fired, but we've found a new job soon after. All kind of shit happens on a regular basis.

I used to freak out every time something happened, but no more. I don't care anymore. What happens, happens. Since I am not a clairvoyant, I can't prevent bad things from happening. So why freak out? I've quit worrying about stuff I can't do anything about.

IT DRIVES MY WIFE CRAZY! She can't handle my being so casual and just dealing with adversity when it hits - but not before.

She keeps nagging about how irresponsible and immature I am for not constantly worrying about the future or wringing my hands every time we run a but short of money. And when something happens, she's all about "I told you so! Now what are we going to do, eh? This is the end, I tell you! The end!". Ok, so if you knew it, why didn't you do anything about it, you silly woman?! It seems as if she wants to live in fear and, even even though she can't do anything about them, she has some kind of a need to worry about future events. To her, not worrying oneself to death is immature and irresponsible. How? I don't know.

She doesn't understand you way of dealing with it.

Try to explain her that reacting emotional won't help one bit.

Uh. No, I won't say that. Saying that to a woman is almost as bad as saying: "You're a bit cranky today. Is it that time of the month again?".

People think that if you don't get all angry and yell and scream about every little misfortune or thing, then you must not care one bit about it.

I tell them, "Simply because I'm not running around like a lunatic screaming, doesn't mean I don't care, it's just not productive to do that.. instead, to fix the problem, I'm going to [insert action appropriate to situation here]"

Yep. Careful with this routine though. If you happen to show the slightest bit of weakness/emotional response at some avenue down the road , she will eat you alive.

Women need drama and need you to react passionately , even if they pretend like they dont. Its how they are wired.

That's funny and worth five minutes, but i can sum it up in three words: Logic vs Crazy

Men are logical and women react with emotions.

Some women have husband's who need drama. My husband birches about fucking everything. From the way I drive down the driveway to the way I fucking make cookies. I feel like I'm in a lot of men's shoes who constantly get botched at by their wives.

Dont get me wrong. Men are guilty of it. Thats my point. Men repress things. Then one thing comes along and it can get real messy.

Thats my warning to the OP. Just react , man. Show her you still give a fuck. She needs it.

Re: I've stopped freaking out after every minor misfortune and it's really annoying my wife!
Women LIVE on DRAMA.

If there isn't a constant supply of DRAMA ... they will CREATE DRAMA.

YOU are taking part of the DRAMA out of her life ... and her brain is REBELLING at being deprived of the CHEMICAL DUMP her brain gets when DRAMA occurs.

Yes ... NEEDING DRAMA is much like Needing Cocaine!! She, and most women, have a constant need for the Chemical Dump into her brain that Drama creates. Her reaction is just that she is having a CHEMICAL WITHDRAWAL problem, same as trying to wean one's self off of any chemical dependency (alcohol, cocaine, etc.).

Some women are more "Chemically Dependent" than others. Sounds like you have one that is More versus Less dependent.

Women's brains ARE wired differently than men's brains. Just accept that and deal with it ... if you want HER to stay with you (or she will SEEK OUT DRAMA ELSEWHERE!! ie: she will start doing stuff to either add drama to your relationship OR look for drama with other men)

I could talk a bit more about this, but then it would come off to women as another "just a bitter man" comment so I will leave it at that.

Its more about empathy and recognition and burden..some people will worry about life while others dont..and it is often complex and complicated when two opposing people are partners with clearly opposite values, attitudes and viewpoints..sometimes this can work well if the chilled person can ampathise and help de stress their partners to relax and chill more..or can at least appreciate the other persons perspective.but it can also seem like the chilled person just doesnt care

So while it might seem to be good to be able to not care about problems it may drive the other person nuts because they feel the burden is always placed on them...as lets be honest there are also lazy people who place all the burdens of life onto others for and easy ride too..and often learn the skill to just remain deaf and blind to the nagging or drama. Lol.

Mutual understanding and empathy are a useful...to find balances and compromises
