Why do we need the answers to the questions that we are supposedly trying to answer with CERN? Why do we care about black holes, parallel universes and all of this other crap?

Massive amounts of money that could have gone to solve 'real world' issues... pumped into this massive device in hopes it will answer the questions that a relatively few people ask.

The entire CERN issue seems so 'out there,' that I have a hard time accepting that it's publicly stated purpose is really what it is there for... there has be more to this than what we are being told.
