Waste of time. Stores only need to change the SKU # and they can sell anything they want and call it something else. AND if you don't think its already happening you're delusional.

The way to fix the problem is to have better oversight and means testing of recipients. Either way it's gonna cost taxpayers. So damned if you do damned if you don't.

I would literally starve without food stamps. And I eat one thin cheap steak a month. Can't I enjoy one meal a month? This guy is an inconsiderate ass.

Why would you starve? more importantly what is it that stops you from finding employment or a means to be self sufficient? Do you not have a marketable skill or idea that can generate money? Or do you feel that you are owed a lifetime of free food and drink at the expense of those who do work or generate income?

Laws that control people instead of serving and protecting people should be rejected by everyone, including the peace officers.

I don't see them buying just simple fish, they go for shrimp and lobster. How much lobster do you buy? They don't even look at the price of those items, just throw in in their cart.

Some of that fish is really expensive..and after Ferguson got turned into a 3rd world shithole and had to be rebuilt to the tune of millions

This story gets 5 stars as it reveals a very important fact: Republicans cure problems by hurting the POOR FIRST ( and still dont fix anything).

As far as I can see GOVERNMENT is the problem. Its too big and far reaching. I suppose the only fair thing is to cut everyone across the board a certain percentage, and that's not gonna work.

I don't care what the poor eat. Its the only equalizer in the world, that the poor can have a snack and pleasure now and then

What they need to do is drug testing, hardcore drug testing to be eligible. Food stamps if you pass. Banned from the system for a number of months if you don't.

I think the point is two-fold.

1. Buying crap is not beneficial from a health standpoint and will just end up costing the tax payer money on that end.

2. Buying food that the working unsubsidized poor - who also fund social welfare programs - cannot afford for themselves or their families is not fair. No-one on social welfare ought to live better than what the working unsubsidized poor can afford for themselves, since they too are funding food stamps and health care.

The ideas are sound under the current model/paradigm of scarce resources. It's the implementation that is tricky. On the other hand, the more important question is whether the assumption of scarce resources is even valid.

My personal belief is that there are more than enough resources and technologies on this earth without governmental redistribution of wealth to provide adequate housing, energy and food for every man, women, and child on this planet. We will eventually get their as AI takes over more of the labor at every level of complexity and the connection of labor/wages with consumerism (working to just survive as a living being) will become completely undoable and obsolete.

I can't work any more. I spent 22 years as a landscaper. I wore my body completely out. I have clogged arteries in my back plus spinal damage so it is unbearably painful to stand or walk for long. Had 3 strokes and lost my mental sharpness. I have to surf the web with my phone so I can type with one hand since the left hand is dead now. I can't even answer phone because my hearing aids interfere with the receiver and I can't hear the callers with no hearing aids. If I could sit all day I could be a Walmart greeter, but that is all I could do. I can't even walk into the store without using a cane.

I am 46 going on 75. Years of hard labor has ruined me. I thought it was good for me. It is not like I had no other choice. I have an IQ of 141. I just enjoyed being outside and hated schools. Now I pay for it.

They should give them a rod and reel and a hook then.
