MEN: CLINGY WOMEN
Men, what is a "clingy woman" and is that something you like or despise?

Would that be a woman that constantly wants to put her hands on you, sit on your lap, kiss you, etc...can't stand for you to leave the room etc.

Or does it have more to do with a needy emotional type?

Please explain in detail.

Re: MEN: CLINGY WOMEN
Only men who like to control women like clingy women. THey want them to cling so they have power over them. A man with a healthy mind and heart will not do well with a woman who clings, for that is a sign of weakness in a woman. Real men want women who can stand on their own two feet, think for themselves, and be a partner, someone who is their mirror.

No, not a rap artist, just thinking about degrees of affectionate display and boundaries.

I never thought of the Klingons.

They have a fairly aggressive mating ritual, as I recall...

see...

Rituals of Courtship, Marriage and Divorce

Klingons do not approach mating gently, and courtship takes the same approach. While humans would consider much of what passes for courting between Klingons potentially criminal, amongst Klingons this is normal. The physical boundaries between the couple are tested and the combination of pleasure mixed with pain reflects the path that the two are considering sharing.

The whole process of courtship can encompass several aspects in order to show the female that the male is worthy of her love. For instance, food — freshly killed of course — can be introduced to symbolically show that he is ready to provide for her on a regular basis. Beauty for Klingons is often associated with physical strength, as opposed to the more Earth-centric idea that beauty is either in the eye of the beholder or an aesthetic constant. To a Klingon, violence itself can be the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Oath of Union — Klingons usually mate for life, and the union — once a couple is "engaged" — is solemnized with a sacred traditional oath. (The Emissary)

Klingon Wedding — A Klingon couple are linking themselves, and given the confrontational and aggressive nature of the race, this relationship, while possessing the potential for softer interaction, will also be filled with challenges between the two on many levels. Thus, a Klingon couple looks forward to a future filled with howling fights and tender moments, forever and intractably linked, for better or worse, as companions.

The Klingon wedding is an elaborate affair that requires punctilious planning and observation. Separate rites and rituals are performed by the bride and groom in the days leading up to the wedding. To begin the actual ceremony, a targ is ritually sacrificed and its blood is shed prior to the guests feasting. Also during the wedding, a ritual bat'leth fight takes place between the two participants. (You Are Cordially Invited...)

Brek'tal — If the leader of a Klingon house is slain in honorable combat, the victor may be invited to take his place and his wife. The ritual ceremony can be completed with just a single witness who requires no special status — even a servant will do. Wearing ceremonial robes, each member of the couple recites "Go'Eveh lu cha wabeh to va re'Luk," followed by the witness proclaiming "Ghos ma'lu Kah".

Klingon Divorce — The Klingon divorce involves the petitioner striking the defendant spouse, and reciting the words "N'Gos tlhogh cha!" and then spitting as a closing act. The divorce ceremony requires no further witness nor official to complete the process. (The House of Quark)

Re: MEN: CLINGY WOMEN
I went on a first date with a woman many years ago, within 2 hours she is asking me for my phone number at home and work in case she needs to get in touch with me if she has an emergency. I was like WTF? I don't even know you that well yet and I am already your contact in case of emergency?

Needless to say, no number exchange and no second date.

Simple rule:

If you are HOT HOT HOT men LIKE it.

If you are NOT NOT NOT men HATE it.

(and "average" fits into the NOT NOT NOT category).

SO, the bottom line is...

If attraction is mutual, then constantly kissing you and touching and grabbing your butt is ok, but if not then no way.

Is that it?

Bottom line? Men crave female attention, so many guys like a woman to be affectionate. Grab a butt cheek, nibble an ear, run fingers through hair, etc. etc, - as long as it's not to the point of distraction.

I think the problem leans on the other side. Most men don't get ENOUGH attention.

Re: MEN: CLINGY WOMEN
To add to my HOT HOT HOT post above:

I once dated a stunningly beautiful woman who's deceased husband had been an entertainer (and who's sister married one of the top entertainers in the US - not rockstar entertainers btw). Her philosophy was:

***ALL men WANT SOME SLEEZE in their lives ... and if they can't get it at home they will look elsewhere for it***

By "all men" she meant people who had something on the ball vs total loosers.

She was pretty enough that had been chased around the casting couch (or so she claimed) by a number of big names and was almost always being hit upon when she went out even as she got older.

At first I dismissed her comments about that ... but as I continued to date her and since have gotten older myself ... I see the wisdom and insightfulness in her comments. I now understand that ***Men WANT a woman who is sometime WILD ... but JUST WITH HIM. A woman who FULFILLS in real life the imaginations that a man might have of a foxy woman in bar, or even a strip club***

Men are MUCH more interested in Sex and their brains are wired to be much more cognizant of the idealized form of the opposite sex than women are. That is now a proven scientific fact.

anyway FWIW ... and boy was she HOT, in every way you could dream about.

I think the majority of time if a man calls his girfriend "clingy" is because he is not in love with her.

It's really more about inappropriate or over done clinging. If it's out of hand, it's insecurity, in one form or another. Men should just be men and women should just be women. Quit trying to figure out the opposite sex, it's impossible, if something bothers you just freakin say it does, if you like something then say that too. It's not that hard when you find the right person, it's finding the right person that isn't always easy.

I have a friend who clings onto a husband who cheats like mad. I try to understand her neediness but it is beyond me. She still looks "up" to him. I think its cause he is older than her. To me, a wife should not look up to a husband, but they should rather be on eye level with each other.

Exactly my point. He is not in love with her obviously. If he were, he would not be out screwing around. She desperately clings for an approval that will never come.
