No surprize there if you kept up with this bamboozle from the start. Wait for the surprized looks when the feds go after savings accounts, stock/ bond holdings and annuities of the poor slobs who got subsidies or if your earnings get higher than the year before. The fine was waaaaay cheaper.

obamacare saved me last year when i lost my job and this year i have a credit for a good policy. the subsidy is based on my income at the time I applied. if my income goes up i should accept less subsidy. it is explained when you go on the marketplace site. It is up to me to keep track of what is going on. without this subsidy i would still be on medicaid and medicaid kept me alive but i needed real insurance. the facts will set you free.

My income has gone down but my premiums will double next year

If I make less than $47,000, then the govt will pay part of the premiums if I sign up for BC/BS thru Obamacare.

So instead of paying $604 per month, my premiums would be $122.33 since the govt would subsidize 482.37
IF my projected income will be $30,000. Since my income will fluctuate, I will need to keep an eye on it and let them know so they can adjust.

I was considering just paying the fine, but if I needed surgery, the deductible is $5,500 and then I would have to pay another $1000, but ANYTHING over that is payed for.

So if I had hospital bills of 100,000 or even a million dollars, I would only have to pay for $6,500.




Just something to think about until Dec 7 (or whenever the deadline is)

Actually, it depends on your income.

You must make less than $47,000

and if your income goes down during the year, your subsidies (the part the govt pays) will increase, reducing the monthly payment (from you).
If your income goes up and you fail to call them, that is when you will owe them more money (once they find out).

Health insurance should never be based on income. No more than the price or milk and eggs are. It doesn't matter how much you make. Milk and eggs are the same price for everyone with subtle differences depending on where you live. Obamacare just punishes people when they make more money by taking more money from them for insurance. It is a horrible concept.

I'm happy for you. The ACA caused me to lose my existing insurance and over doubled the price of any ins plan so now I am uninsured.

Can you elaborate on how you lost your existing insurance?

My BCBS premiums will double next year, but the subsidies from ACA will bring the premiums down to less than half of what I was paying - mostly because my income has gone down.
(At least that is what I am told)

The stupid thing should be scrapped. Every American gets a basic free heath plan- NO PREMIUMS. For those who want extras, they can pay for them. This sending it thru the IRS to collect the money is also wrong! A few years ago we had less costs for health care- this is a big scam and it should be dismantled.
I just reset my plan as all the costs are increasing for 2016. Get extra money at work and you have to pay more money; man that is so irritating, they follow people all year long and snoop on us. This is so wrong and its very unfair

My doctor asked me a couple of weeks ago what my medical plan was on the off chance I got a tumor somewhere.

I told him my medical plan was, "it damn well better not grow."

The insurance premiums are so astronomically high that our family would have to choose between the insurance and paying rent.

However, once the premium is paid, we still have to come out of pocket $6000 before the insurance would cover said tumor.

Problem is, once the premium is paid, the pockets are empty.

So - the medical plan for the adults in my family is just to try to treat ourselves if we get sick. If the kids get sick, then we have to go into debt to get them treated if we had to.

For some people, I guess the ACA works. But for all the working families I know, it is simply devastating.

There is no such thing as real insurance any more.
