Instead, we now see historic, uncharacteristic weakness and indecisiveness from Israel. It's hard to explain why this once in a lifetime geo-political blue moon is being squandered by Netanyahu. I feel like Trump has something of a desire to make peace in the region a goal of his and didn't give Netanyahu the expected support to oust Hamas. If true though, this shows Trump is not a standard Zionist, but an ideological neutral observer. If this weakness is Netanyahu alone, he better hurry in case Trump is ousted by Dems taking over house and Senate in November. Israel will surely be met with betrayal or at least lack of support by the next more liberal US administration. In a more jaded view, it's possible Israel doesn't want it resolved at all because a deal making Palestinians citizens of Israel with voting rights won't work, and setting up a statehood deal where the West Bank is then physically connected to Gaza & radicalized won't work for them either. He has ALWAYS been on the side of pali rights and statehood, but NEVER at the expense of giving up Jerusalem as Israels capital. And his criminal troubles have plagued him since his first prime ministership. Seems the guy has a penchant to do things on the sly that favor his wallet and position. But his commitment and passion for the State of Israel is undeniable. Netanyahu was close friends with Trumps dad from his days living in NY. How deep the Bibi/Donald friendship really goes isn't really known. All I know is that Liberman has alot to do with the shit that's going on right now. You can smell it. It is pretty obvious to some that Iran is a nuke power already. They purchased 14 cruise missiles from Ukraine. Ukraine says they were "de-mil'd". It would be pointless to buy them without warheads. You have not and will not hear about Iran purchasing nukes from nk,pak, Russ etc Netanyahu could put a stop to hamass but at the cost of scores or hundreds of soldiers. For a nation of 6 million that is a big number. He could go to the source and hit Iran at a potential cost of losing the nation. Surely, it is a huge problem to have to rum to shelters every few months. But, ultimately the rockets did surprising small damage. The Pentagon says Israel is a one bomb country. One nuke on tel Aviv and there would not be sufficient infrastructure left for Israel to defend itself in even the medium term. Sometimes, as a leader, you have to opt for the lesser of two evils. He did the right thing. |
