You do realize that if we did leave... a few things would happen:
They would control the flow of oil tankers... and the countries that have been complaining about us would all of a sudden cry and beg for us to protect them and their ships...

Iran would start to claim that they 'scared' off the Americans and start trying to push their weight around with the other Middle Eastern Countries. Enough that it would would cause one of them to start to push back or push a button.

They would start to plan and carry out an attack on Israel with the belief that America would not step in and protect Israel... which of course would be their last mistake.

So...
should we back off and let the Middle East Countries find out how valuable it is to have American Ships in that Gulf to protect them?
