Trump, frustrated by advisers, is not convinced the time is right to attack Iran

The Trump administration has been on high alert in response to what military and intelligence officials have deemed specific and credible threats from Iran against U.S. personnel in the Middle East.

But President Trump is frustrated with some of his top advisers, who he thinks could rush the United States into a military confrontation with Iran and shatter his long-standing pledge to withdraw from costly foreign wars, according to several U.S. officials. Trump prefers a diplomatic approach to resolving tensions and wants to speak directly with Iran’s leaders.

Trump is not inclined to respond forcefully unless there is a “big move” from the Iranians, a senior White House official said. Still, the president is willing to respond forcefully if there are American deaths or a dramatic escalation, the official said.

Pentagon and intelligence officials said that three distinct Iranian actions have triggered alarms: information suggesting an Iranian threat against U.S. diplomatic facilities in the Iraqi cities of Baghdad and Irbil; U.S. concerns that Iran may be preparing to mount rocket or missile launchers on small ships in the Persian Gulf; and a directive from Khamenei to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and regular Iranian military units that some U.S. officials have interpreted as a potential threat to U.S. military and diplomatic personnel. On Wednesday, the State Department ordered nonessential personnel to leave the U.S. missions in Baghdad and Irbil.

I don’t know...I can see both sides of it..Iran is a threat as they are The state sponsor of terrorism world wide. I can see how Potus wouldn’t want to rush into a war, I hope he does realize though the mullahs aren’t contestants on apprentice, these are power mad despots who have had one singular mission since the Islamic revolution started and they aren’t going to be dismayed from it with agreements or tough talk. Sometimes you gotta punch a prick in the mouth to get him to knock off the hijinks. Are there risks absolutely but consider the risks of letting them run roughshod.

Don't get me wrong. I won't back down from a fight and I will NEVER bow to a f*ing muzz, but nobody in their right mind would want to experience that one.

I don't think we've ticked off all the items that come before the big one, have we? The antichrist, the plagues and pestilence?

I don't believe trump was chosen to bring in the big war, at least not in this term. We have miles to go before we sleep, and miles to go before we sleep.

At least that's my take, but I'm always willing to listen.

I think a lot of people refuse to see the reality of the situation and the mindset of the enemy we face. They don't' think on the level we think and they have an established motive for which they will do just about anything to see happen. There is no point in negotiating because they simply will never live up to any agreement. They've stated their goals time and time again and yet people still have to ask what they want? I was afraid something like this might happen again...we as a civilized society have never learned, when you see a threat you deal with it..you don't let it grow and metastasize to the point it becomes an existential threat not just to you but to your allies because what effects them will inevitably affect you.
