Remember, Iran has mutual defense treaty with Russia.

If we attack first, Russia is obligated by treaty to step in.

You have to know, that China, Russia, Iran and many other countries are all part of it.

The problem with China is they are a defense only military, they have no way to project power, no navy transports or too many aircraft to bring their millions of troops anywhere.

Russia, on the other hand, does have massive airlift capability.

They could have 10,000 Spetznaz and paratroopers on the ground in 36 hours with armor support and they are formidable, let me just tell you.

Whether people believe in that or not, so many just don't get the concept of WORLD war.

Russia doesn't seem to be doing anything about all those Israeli strikes on Iranian forces in Syria. So I don't think they'll defend Iran. The most they'll do is whine about it and wave their fists at us but that's about it, unless they want to start World War 3.

from what I have been reading China is building an amphibious Navy/Military faster than Japan did in the lead up to WW2.

Let's be honest...

No one country can know absolutely everything another country has going on covertly.

China has a naval base in Djibouti and who knows what skunkworks they can project ... covert minelaying or other ops.
