Obama commutes sentences of 22 crack dealers in federal prison

If any of these shits end back in prison for doing the same thing they were sentenced for, will Obama take their place?

Almost all with intent to distribute. Fuck, most with 20 years and more. Some with life in prison. I don't agree with our justice system, so I suppose he did something right. I still hate his fucking guts as a dicktaker... I mean dicktaster... I mean dictator.

Why were 91% of them convicted for drugs well known to cause crime rates to skyrocket and utterly ruin communities?

Well look at 'dat. Mostly cocaine and meth charges. I thought they were going to focus on the marijuana charges since it has been and is being legalized. Ooops. I forgot. We are dealing with liars.

Just perusing through the names, OP, and I would have to say that you are correct in your statement that most are black people. I see one Hispanic name. Probably threw in one white one for the heck of it.

I liked the one that got a life sentence for cocaine. Now, there must have been some additional circumstances to accompany the drug charges.

So, we've got several more out on the street probably to distribute some more cocaine, crack cocaine and God help us, meth.

I have experience with both - at least having come in contact with people who used it. A handyman (crack) and a next door neighbor who cooked meth and the condos are connected for an easy multiple explosion.

I'm in full support of this action by the President. All nonviolent drug offenders should be set free. Imprisoning people for selling a product is unjust and clearly hasn't worked at all. The drug war is over and the government has lost.

Are you sure? Looks to me like they were crack dealers, crack is a horrible drug to be addicted to.

So if it is crack they've been selling which turns their users into walking disasters with short life spans I think they should have gotten more. They're ruining lives not only of the crack addict but also the families of those crack addicts and also their communities.

And since it's Obama, we do know he don't make good things, we do know he makes evil all the time. So probably a bunch of crack dealers destroying lives. And now Obama lets them out to destroy more lives...

Honestly, if it were a fair mix, I'd be all for it. No one should go to prison for a victimless crime of drugs. If they were violent addicts, that's a different story. No, I'm not going to read it because I already know the races. No one should ever be locked up for drugs, either selling, using, or sharing.

The majority are coke related. Since we know Barry is/was a coke fan...makes sense.

This is likely the beginnings of a blitzkrieg of PR from the progressives to get felons and convicts voting rights reinstated. Social justice!

He is just trying to make it look like they are cleaning up the prison system, which they are not! Truth is, since they started the harsh and sometimes extreme minimum sentences on crimes, most were placed in the prison system through plea bargaining.


So what is the big deal with plea bargaining these days? Well for instance, my 21 year old son was dating this literally insane girl that just got out of a stay in the mental hospital. He ended up cheating on her and a year later he was pick up and charged with aggravated sexual battery on her little sister. Even though he did not touch the little girl and he was never left alone with her, since she is able to be articulate in her accusation his attorney is advising him to plea no contest and he may end up with only 1 year in prison and on a sex offender registry for the rest of his life. If he tries to fight it (as he should), he will face a minimum of 20 years in prison if the girl sticks to her guns.


The prosecutors have more power than the judges these days because they are able to intimidate the defendants into prison time, even if they are innocent of any crimes.


I never in a million years thought anyone in my family would end up in this situation. On another note, in the state of Virginia, all inmates have to pay for room and board even if they are not convicted of a crime and the cost of phone calls will make inmates families go bankrupt.

Maybe if he can "EO" this into a wide range of abolishing mandatory minimum sentencing, as well as promote the legalization of all drugs. We can take the savings from the prison system and drug wars and put the money to use on real problems.

Drugs aren't the problem, the war on drugs is the problem. Decriminalize drugs and take the profit out of the black market of drugs and they won't be a problem.

Addicts are going to use no matter what, no need to make it a crime to kill themselves or use recreationally.

But hey, every country that's decriminalized drugs has seen decreases in addiction rates, crime rates, and death by overdose rates. Addicts need help, just get them into a system of help. And by help I mean other addicts that have found a way out of that trap of addiction, not some huge government program of "help".

Drug crimes that are only based on possession and usage are stupid.
