Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46010932 How that affects things, I have no idea. Not correct. To be able to qualify to be in the army, you have to be Saudi citizen. It has to do with the loyalty to the royal. And you cannot have Saudi citizenship if you weren't born from a Saudi father. And as the Saudi are very tribal in nature (and very good so!), they have to take a women, more or less from same tribe, or some tribe which they are related (same form KSA), women of which the groom family, has to know all the whereabouts about the girl and girl family. Because being in the tribe, is much more easy, because the family probably knows the girl family and knows even the girl from her infancy. This seem quite absurd for the liberal minded Westerners, but believe me, it is very good, suitable for people in that region. Very little marriages, arranged by parents end up in divorce and that the kids released on the streets, like in Europe, etc. Now, if you were wondering, it's not that a Saudi man, cannot take a foreigner as wife, but their children, when will be of age of marriage will be disqualified, so very difficult to find a spouse in KSA (again because they are not considered to belong to the tribe, being a mix). So, judging by these aspects, I think the info you read is not accurate. Saudi are very keen to keep a good control over their citizenship, is not like for other countries that you gain after few years being in that country, etc. You can stay 30 years as resident but never will you be citizen. So, by no means the story that half Saudi military are related with Yemeni. Some tribes, in Abha and south KSA might be related with some Yemeni tribes and that's it. |
