It is something that if you are not open to it, in a sense devoted to it. You can never see it for what it is much less have it be a guide to you. This is biblical as well. Consider this statement principals are principals only when you serve them. When you use them to hurt others they become tools and lose their power and guiding light. The truth is similar in this respect. It has power when served but just a tool when it is not. In short GOD plays second fiddle to nothing in the virtues and precepts he cares about. Don't serve the truth it just might betray you as you do it. It is built right in the system, right in the order of things.
