Quoting: Anonymous Coward 133770Not if all items are not on the menu. It's an underhanded tactic to make people spend more, sure they don't HAVE to spend anything at all but most people don't walk into Starbuck's and come out without spending something. |

Starbucks=Idiots Enjoy I'm not too fond of Signatures. Why would I want to end every post the same way? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 126878 Panama 08/26/2006 11:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A lot of merchants have deals/cheaper items/specials/upgrades that they will not tell you about unless you ask. If you don't ask, they figure you don't care to know. And, they don't advertise these deals, because they'd go broke if everyone under the sun took advantage of them. I learned about this completely by accident when I was young and broke. I'd be in a shop looking at everything desperately trying to find the item I needed at a price I could afford. I'd be standing there with a confused look on my face long enough for someone to notice that I obviously needed some assistance. I'd explain what I needed and ask if they had anything that fell within my budget. It never ceased to surprise me how often shop owners would seek to find a way to accomodate me. I found this to be the case at large chains as well as mom and pop shops (although it was the mom and pop shops that were the most helpful, may they rest in peace). They'd tell me about deals they were not advertising or about slightly flawed yet still functional items that they could sell me for pennies on the dollar (that's how I got my first nice TV, BTW -- the TV had been returned by someone, who'd lost the remote, because it had a small section in the upper left corner where the pixels were messed up and glowed bright green all the time -- I ended up getting a $400 TV for $50 because it had a minor pixel flaw and no remote). If you go into just about any business establishment, and if you are very nice and sincere about the limitations of your budget, generally they will want to help you -- especially if the person you are talking to is the manager, or better yet, the shop owner. The higher up they are on the "food chain", the more power they have to offer you a deal. And, a lot of people WILL offer you a deal. Most of them have been through rough patches in their own lives at one time or another, so they understand and care enough to want to help. |

Not if you're smart enough to buck their system and beat them. I sometimes get free beverages from Starbucks ever once in a while. The key? Maintain very good rapport with the employees and they'll bend over backward for me. Instant free beverage. Or maybe I got a very nice, charming personality. |

And to ADD inslut after injury, the next worse thing it is possible to do, would be to ingest concentrated sugars, like sticky desserts, hummmm Mcbucks is promoting what?
