Is Old Faithful drying up? Hardly no geyser eruptions? If so, just one or two active today erupted. Yellowstone is really quiet today.

I checked the cam every half an hr or so and today I didn't see any major geyser eruption what is going on? The park is unusually quiet today. Calm before the storm?

I saved a screen shot of the still cam of what it is doing now this is how it was all day. [link to i1377.photobucket.com] could this be the reason why the scientists were looking at the park?

Geysers need water to function. Perhaps the drought out west is affecting Old Faithful.

It's getting ready to pop like a gargantuan pimple. It's gonna rip open the earth from Montana to Wisconsin and send the planet into nuclear winter.

I can't wait.

maybe the water fell into a sinkhole. or the magma is rising and burnt it all up. just my uneducated unscientific theories.

Old faithful erupting now why the hell aren't the others? The past week all geysers were steaming like a sauna now it's all dried up.

In the super volcano movie it starts off with the geysers stop working or almost not working at all then you know...

They are restoring the site before tourist season.
So they turned off most of the water.

Tectonic blockage due to rising magma which is deforming channels water utilizes to facilitate geisers.

as the magma rises the plates change position and can open up new or close old crevices found in the earths crust.

the quiet state is the last stage before an eruption. Right before the magma reaches the surface the last of the open channels close as the plates reposition in a vertical state.

Is that why the geysers seem so inactive this week? They were giving off fire works a lot last month.

And it was just a few days ago they had yellow-clothed men walking about, and turned off the cam.

Seems related.

Yes , as magma rises geisers are hyperactive due to the increase in temperature in the water table causing a marked increase in activity. As the magma continues to rise 2 things happen. The water table is decreased as well as the fractured crust goes verticle closing all but the geisers with highest flow density.

which is the quiet period we are in now.

Soon magma will melt what is left of the crust above causing an instability in the crust above the cauldera.

Last phase before eruption.

I hope no one here lives 60 miles within eruption zone which is how far the ash will reach in just 24 hrs alone. 3 days later it would blanket the whole USA. What naked science super volcanoes speculates.

Surely there is no coincidence that the place has dried up since the scientists came. Why do you think they kept shifting the cam?!

You better hope you do live within 60 miles. If a super eruption occurs those of you outside the immediate devistation radius will either die from suffocation from volcanic ash mixing with fluid in your lungs turing into a cement like substance , collapsing structure under weight of volcanic ash or starvation once the ash cloud circumvents the planet killing all plant life in 3 months.
