I was there\here in 1991. Went to Sizzler many times, dont recall this commercial in the slightest, the food was great, they were super clean, people were very nice. Make of it what you will.

oh yeah Ponderosa too. Either one. I also recall going to a Long John Silver in a town about an hour and a half from Philadelphia around those times and it was real good, around 1988. Everything was so clean.

as a kid all you cared about was getting that soft serve ice cream

There are several reasons women entered the work force in a big way. One, the gov't and the federal reserve debased the purchasing power of the US dollar making prices for everything rise. One of the many reasons they did this was to pay higher and higher benefits to the non-working classes, and the cost of the perpetual wars they were engaged in.
As prices went up, the corporations held down wages, concentrating profits funneled to the stockholders and corporate officers. PRices rose, wages stagnated.

To soothe the angst of the moms that didn't want to leave the kids to daycare the talk shows all supported the working mom ideal. They told them they should have a career for when the husband dumped them in the street.

To drive it home they told all women to promptly divorce their husbands at the first sign of trouble. Throw the bum out!
And here we are.

Another reason women started working was the brainwashing programs on television. All the family sitcoms, soap operas and commercials showed happy people in really nice homes, driving new cars, wearing high fashion clothes..
The only three shows I can remeber that didn't do this were the Andy Griffith show, All in the Family, and the Honeymooners. All the rest showed affluent family life, out of reach of working class people and one bread winner families in particular.

On September 11, 1991 George H.W. Bush gave a speech where he specifically named the coming New Order. 10 years to the day of the murderous bombing of the One World Trade Center.

It's been awhile since I watched it, and it's long - but I think I counted five blacks - a father with two kids on the merry go round, and then a black couple in the restaurant. I don't know what the black population percentage was in the 1991, but it's only 13% today.

Like I said - these days, there is a strong effort to portray the demographics of this country in an unrealistic way. Just in the last 15 minutes I've seen four commercials - two with interracial couples (black and white), one a black family and one a black woman. The population of blacks where I live is roughly 9%.

Oh, I forgot an old favorite- Sanford and Son. Fred and Lamont were good people, honest, black as hell and loved by everyone. They lived the hard scrabble life of regular people.
