Greedy mall owners increasing rent 50-100-200% and the tenants just say "fuck that!" and leave and go someplace else cheaper.
That's why it happens all over the place.

Tenants had leases -- even paid 2x rents (happily) for Nov & Dec -- & then were told their leases were no longer valid & that the mall would be closing in Jan. The owners are remodeling & turning it into an outlet mall. Interesting. Maybe the owners would prefer the clientele of outlet shopping instead of retail? Odd.
