Please tell me all the concerns of having a smart meter installed

Thank you. But is it also true that there are ways these meters can record and divulge other information beyond electricity usage? What about energy "savings", I have read that many people end up paying more each month after their meter had been installed, and are the health concerns truly founded or is a lot of what has been warned about simply hype?

many have also started fires.

Here in the UK they've (the energy co's) been trying to tell us we need them and are trying to roll them out. It's not compulsory and easy to opt out of.

Just had a quick look on Google.com (USA) using 'stop smart meters', it brings up loads of US websites with good info on the dangers.
