Yet another whale washes ashore — this time in Half Moon Bay
A dead whale floated ashore on a Half Moon Bay beach Tuesday morning, the third expired cetacean to wash up on Bay Area shores since mid-April.

The large marine mammal, thought to be a gray whale, was found near Poplar Beach in the seaside community on Highway 1, said Haley Bowling, a spokeswoman for the California Academy of Sciences.

Officials believe the whale could be the same one that was reported floating offshore within the last two days, Bowling said. That whale was reported to be 25 to 30 feet long.
