NATO won't do anything major. This is all just talk. Plus Ukraine and Georgia can't join NATO since they have disputed territory. NATO will not defend Ukraine or Georgia militarily.

Plus joining could take decades, on 2008 Ukraine's application was Veto by Germany post Georgia war, so the organisation would need some revamping and the framework for joining would be immense. Yup nothing is going to happen involving NATO and Russia knows this. FUKUS however that's possible, but NATO as an organisation... there's no taste for it it would require something drastic for that to happen, IE the invasion of Ukraine would strengthen NATO's resolve as an organisation to act together, the Polish border would become the neo West/Berlin.
