Listen to your lawyer. When I did criminal defense I would waive speedy trial routinely and for various reasons. Often times you need a continuance and the only way to get it is to waive speedy trial. The fact is there are very few cases in which a defense lawyer should insist on forcing the State to trial within time.

TLDR: Op is being paranoid. Speedy trial is waived all the time and for the defendants benefit.

Unless your attorney plans to sell you down the river or cut a deal to plea to a lesser charge he's going to need time to build your case that you wouldn't get without waiving speedy trial.

We have no idea what the offense is... but if I had to guess, time is on your side -- and the lawyer does NOT want you to have a speedy trial as the longer some types of cases drag out, the weaker the prosecutions case will be.

So relax... really. Calm down... think long-term. Get on with your life and STAY CLEAN. Keep the peace.

All lawyers are lying scumbags that are officers of the court and do not have your interests at heart.

Even lawyers know they are scumbags and many have substance abuse issues.

All lawyers are lying scumbags. Period.

I concurr. in other words, agree. Your defense needs time to collect the facts that are in your favor as well as deterime any weakness in the Corporations claim against you.

good luck
