I'm not saying that there ought to be a law against "manspreading," which is a new word for me as of about 30 seconds ago, and I agree arresting people for it is ridiculous, but politely asking someone to close his legs to accommodate you sitting down, in New York, will be met with, at least, a "Fuck you," and potentially, physical violence.

It's a tough call. Can't make a law every time someone annoys you, but the culture has deteriorated such that they're trying to legislate what used to just be simple civility. I'm with Brief.
