Let's bring pipe tobacco smoking back...
Your thoughts?

It is very dissimilar to cigarette smoking. The tobacco's are usually flavored and/or blended, rather than being sprayed or mixed with chemicals and unnatural additives. Also, you do not inhale pipe tobacco the same as you do cigarettes. I find that I enjoy it a few times a week, very rarely, more than once a day. I didn't pick up this hobby until I was 31- either I'm getting old or I'm some sort of pseudo-hipster, I can't decide which.

No one?

With all the bullshit going on in the world today, I find it very rewarding to sit with a pipe, packed with a vanilla aromatic or good Virginia, and just take a timeout.

Pipes are awesome.

I could see my self getting into that. It's classy. You ever have that friend who smoked weed out of a corn cob pipe? Yeah.

I'd jump on that trend.

There is certainly an art to pipe making. The good quality ones can be quite expensive getting up into the 100-300 dollar range. I actally started with a Freehand Dr. Grabow and Rustic Dr. Grabow. They were only 30 bucks each, but damn they smoke like champs.

Currently smoking Mac Barren Vanilla Cream, with some Lane 1Q, Frog Morton Cellar, and Sutliff Molto Dolce on deck. That Vanilla Flake messed me up early LOL Got the spins for a few minutes after taking out a full bowl, but I enjoyed it either way. The closet that I keep them all in smells awesome.

Yeah, I've been watching quite a few of StogieFarts' and Jay Dagner/dagnerperformance's vids. I used to smoke cigarettes years ago, 7 years in total, but stopped after they put the fire-safe chemicals in them. Since then, I've smoked Black & Mild Wine's off and on, and have a huge cigar box full of nasal snuff of various flavors. I like the nasal snuff, but I just don't get the same satisfaction as I do "smoking". Pipe tobacco, it's rituals, and the unique individuality of each tobacco+pipe combination are far more appealing.

Narc, thanks for reminding me- I was just thinking that I need to grab a couple of cob pipes so I can give my briar's more time to rest between smokes.

I highly recommend doing some research on pipe smoking and it's related tobaccos; you won't regret it.

True, it does have great room notes usually. The Lane 1Q stuff I'm smoking smells like marshmallow, vanilla, and honey with a bit of spice.... Almost like Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. It tastes pretty much the same, and is extremely mild and low nicotine content. It's a great all day type of smoke.

One of the great things about pipe tobacco's are that they only get better with age. Also, they are extremely cheap. The most you'll put into the investment is in the pipes, but with proper care, they will outlive their owners.

LOL. Any man who's a man at all knows the power that our scents have on a woman. If one were to suddenly have amnesia over her most beloved partner, the one thing that would remain with her is "the way he smelled."

So...I've been making my own smokes with tubes, a cigarette packer and tobacco. Turns out I've been smoking pipe tobacco for the last year instead of cigarette tobacco (bad advice from the store). My lungs are screwed. It was cheap however. $7.33 per carton. OMG. I'm going down the cancer road.

Nah, they actually package alot of cigarette tobacco's as pipe tobacco to get around the taxes required. You'd know if you were smoking real pipe tobacco, it would probably be a lil' too moist to burn right in those tubes.

I think it's the same stuff it's just labled pipe tobacco because anything labeled cigarrette has outrageous taxes. Generally you can tell pipe tobacco by the cut and the fact that it has to have some moisture in it just like cigars.

Right now, I have a Dr. Grabow Freehand bent and a Dr. Grabow textured. I wanted to make sure this was something I can see myself keeping as a hobby long-term before I dropped money on a really nice pipe. I also found a nice rosewood F.E.S.S. pipe on Amazon, but I've found a few reports of people getting sick from Rosewood pipes. I don't understand how anyone could sell those if that was the case?

My first good pipe will probably be a Savinelli or Peterson egg-shaped pipe. The black ones with the rustication on the outside, bent of course. I also will be picking up a couple of the MM cobs to have in rotation.
