NASA & Verizon Creating Cell Tower Surveillance Grid, to Monitor Surveillance Drones

Or Wal-Marts with odd razor wire on their roofs, or anything else that some "peon" may be able to stumble on by using similar drone technology the government is allowed to use on them.

I get that there has to be a way from keeping drones from flying all over, but conceptually it sounds like the government wants to say "those toys are for us, not you."

I imagine the only "drones" that will be limited by this are the ultra-consumer grade ones, using tablets and smart phones for operational control, as opposed to ones with RF controls or localized WiFi systems not relying on cellphone networks for control or data transmission.

It's not like Verizon is going to put some laser defense system on every cell tower to zap unauthorized drones from the sky.

High def cameras atop every cell tower across the land. Yep; funded by tax money and increased phone bills.

Dont need cell towers to add cameras, just a pole in any neighborhood!!

The strange gets stranger my friend. If those cameras were in front of my house I'd be tempted to partake in a strong exercise of civil disobedience, aimed at revitalizing the 4th.
