BRIEF User ID: 39607259 United States 06/08/2015 09:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Did anybody ever try using cold water instead of hot water for FD chicken, eggs, etc, that say to use hot water? If so, how long did it take to soften compared to 5-8 minutes for hot water? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67789990 Thanks. Yes but you have to use dehydrated water. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Back in my youth I did a lot of back-packing trips and relied on dehydrated meal packs for meals while on hiking trips. Some days it would rain and make the whole 'lets build a fire to cook' thing a wee bit more difficult if now down right impossible. In my experience with foods 20 years ago that were dehydrated, the time varies from food to food, but yet you can use cold water (or rain water for that matter) to rehydrate the food - you just have to figure it will take double to triple the amount of time. Watch and see. If I had it to do over again, I would have 'wasted' product at home and experimented and not wait until in a down-pour with no sterno packs and so much water that nothing would burn to figure out how to make those meals less crunchy. Sent from my iPhone 12 - because I'm better than you. |

I set my frozen pizza out in the sun today in a black card board box and had hot pizza. |
