What the rich elite fail to understand is that the water is almost gone.

Unless we get a few very wet years in the near future, the reservoirs will reach dead pool status and water will not be available at any price.

If there is no water, there is no water. It is very simple.

The rich will always have a nice green lawn. They just pay the fine, it's nothing for them. So is everybody equal when it comes to water? Nope, unless you connect the amount of the fine to the income or net worth of the person(s) involved.

Also, read this:

Redwood trees dying up North from the drought but these guys get to PAY the fines for the water that the trees need! That's a luxury they don't deserve.

A majestic Redwood, or a golf course.

Oops sorry, Redwood tree can't pay.

The guy actually argues that they should not have to play golf on a brown golf course! Who ARE these people?

Well, to be fair. Golf courses, once the grass dies off to the drought, it's going to cost millions to repair. Most likely will fall to disarray after that. Same for public parks, football fields, baseball fields, soccer fields, etc. It costs very little to maintain the land but costs a lot of money to repair the land for regrowth.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69105810

Oh they pay money!

Well let's just give them ALL of the water then shall we?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69100987

It's your ilk that have caused the problem. You're not "giving" them anything. They are paying for it. And its not your water to give in the first place. But is the money they pay for the water going towards developing any new sources of water? Hell no! Its going towards more libtardian social welfare programs, corruption and graft to keep the TPTB in power, so they can create more problems an herald themselves as the solution. What a fing retard!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69105810

Don't blame me for all your friggin Woes Buddy!

My point is that forests are dying because of the water shortage. And that having green lawns and golf courses is ridiculous when something like this is going on. Forests can't PAY for their water. And YOUR "ILK" doesn't have a right to to the water they need, no matter how much you pay!

LOL! So, tax money brings the rain, huh? I think you are confused. Tax money supplies the means to transport the water. If the water isn't there, I guess there is less tax on your overall water bill.

Re: Wealthy Californians: "We Are All Not Equal When It Comes To Water"
Foremost, keeping lawns "green" doesn't have any positive environmental effects because Southern California is a Mediterranean Climate. It is akin to pissing in a swimming pool, it feels good, but it's not having any substantial influence.

Second, America's vast produce machine that gives us fresh lettuce and citrus in December is largely a creation of California Agriculture. So, for those prattling about "equality", "wealthy farmers", and "rights to water" think about this, what good is your fucking golf course if the country is Mad Max from coast to coast?

Are you going to play nine holes with a special operations detachment acting as your protective detail?

Americans need to get their fucking priorities straight. We are in a fuckin' real pinch and it ain't about fucking golf courses and forest lawns! This drought is partly man made, partly nature, but it's all bad. Use some fucking common sense, if you ain't got food, then what have you got?

Re: Wealthy Californians: "We Are All Not Equal When It Comes To Water"
The rich want their pools, pretty lawns and they want water for their showers to drink when they are thirsty. They pay for it, the famers are not able to properly water OUR foods because they are forced to stop using the river water, how will the crops grow? when the effect of this appears in the markets to which you/they find our foods that the famers grow to fill our bellies, they find bad or no food, I wonder how they will pay for food that is not available?
will they still demand forever water because THEY have money?

As for the drought it has reached far past California. here in montana we are in a small drought situation. here we have started water restrictions far before they are a big issue an know what? the people hear are none to happy t obide by our state and city request from the poor to the rich its working here and no one is complaining. Our pools have yet to open and no one is complaining. the parks are becoming yellowish and no one is complaining. we seem to value the need for water over the need of the wealthies show off and excessive needs.

The governor and legislature decided that a high speed rail line in the middle of nowhere was a better idea than long term issues such as-water.

Fun fact, there is no rail service between Los Angeles and San Francisco. You need to take a bus part way! Also, the LA subway ends a mile from LAX international airport and they have argued and debated and planned about that for years!

Wait a second... there are people in Detroit NOT PAYING their water bill and when the water gets shut off liberals shriek 'water is a human right' and the UN chimes in...

...but in CA where people are actually PAYING for their water - sometimes at a premium - suddenly water ISN'T a human right and the same people who demanded free water for Detroit say no water for California and want it shut off to some?

Hypocrites much?

Being rich by figuring out ways to collect large amounts of account numbers in the form of fiat paper...could make someone crooked, not rich.

That is the danger with a system based on fiat paper that can be printed "out of thin air".

Technically, if you live on four acres with a shit load of lawn, you should build a well or two. Hell, my dad lives on half an acre and he has a well. He waters the whole yard and has it hooked up to the toilets as well. The plants love the minerals in well water and his gardens thrive.

People need to start thinking outside the box and stop relying so much on city/county/government services.
