The meat suit you wear is just that a meat suit. Your brain is what makes you strong, in the thinking zone only. But, compared to most of the world's strongest predators you are still only a meat suit!

Only weapons makes us win in these cases and even then … not always a win for the human.

I have lived in very wild and remote areas, and there you learn FAST you are NOT the top of any food chain, period. You always have your head on a swivel or you die. Slow or fast … really doesn't matter … you still die.

If that young yearling griz makes it to adulthood he will be a force NONE of us would EVER want to mess with. Cunning, smart and an extreme killing machine that will track you for days if need be. Some reach 600 lbs of brute force … and hitting them with a few shots, not well placed, will only increase his strength and anger.

They are both beautiful and scary but they are never sweet and loveable except to their cubs. Disney was a fool!!

Your right about the meat thing though. Both would have feed you and your family for months, plus given you a nice furry blanket and leather for shoes and boots!!

I found this terribly disturbing on a 3 fronts. 1st this family must of been feeding the deers which puts his own family at risk. 2nd the bear should of been shot & killed for the simple fact now this bear knows a new area & place to come to feed.

What happens when the kids are playing in the backyard or the wife or the man is cutting grass? They will then scream for help just like this poor deer did but no one did a thing. 3rd Lastly, the sick commenters thinking this is funny when it is not.


Which goes to plainly show how twisted & insensitive people have become! Even the video poster listed this video in the "comedy" section if you click on "more" in the show more drop down menu.

This is / was a horrifically sad life and death struggle of nature that should never of been this close to any family, let alone in their own backyard! A bear will watch you and stalk you sometimes for months before it strikes. I hope the best for this posters family that they do not become the next meal.

Bears gotta eat, too. I wouldn't mind if they got a few of the deer in my neighborhood. The stupid neighbors feed and name the deer, they are getting overpopulated, and we cannot keep them from eating all of our plants. Even the plants that are "deer resistant" get munched down with gusto. Stupid deer.

I understand that predators have to kill and eat, I have hunted myself. The gun is a lot easier on the prey than tearing at it til it dies. Some lions don't bother to kill their food, just eating it still alive.

Oh, and I hate bears. If I lived in bear country I'd be packing a slug gun on any hikes or outings.
I would cut one down without hesitation if it came at me.

Right you are, Ted. A .45-70 rifle with heavy bear loads would be my first choice, a 12 gauge with 1 ounce slugs would be my second. People under estimate the power of slugs.
To drop a bear you shoot for his spinal column, or from the side, lungs and heart. A Super X slug will pass clean through leaving a 3/4 inch hole through his vitals.
One to the spine will leave him paralyzed and you can deliver the coup de grace safely from close up.

Never ever shoot a bear in the head. Brain is small and behind some thick tough bone. You'll only piss him off.
