All celebrities want at one point or another to get away from the press and public and the pressures of being such a famous figure.

It may seem a little extreme, but hey, this is the guy who wrestles with crocs.

No, because a croc wouldn't be able to just swallow him whole there would be blood and flesh, etcetera, and there would be lots of evidence. If he claims to have a heart attack in the water, then its not like someone is going to conduct a forensic investigation in the middle of the ocean.

Seems to me he was craving the exposure, visibility, and fame by making TV shows, documentaries, and a movie.

If he wanted to get away, all he had to do was not sign contracts and go someplace secluded in the outback in his rather large, remote native land.

He had the money to seek privacy, if he wanted to.

This is going to sound crazy...but I work at a small gas station in the desert near Las Vegas. Anyway late last nite this guy pulls up, gets out and says "Evening mate..would ya fill up my shelia."
As he walked over to the pay phone I got the shock of my life. It must have been Steve Irwin! The light from the streetlamp over the payphone was clear as day.
I tried to listen to the converstaion by leaning up against the phonebooth but he kept turning away from me and talking real softly.
Anyway I'm sure it was steve!

Wow, unlike some people here who will likely bash you, I believe you and I'm sure that the Croc Hunter is out there somewhere. Maybe he had a deal with some low-lifes, a loan or something to get him to his high position today. Could it be that they made threats, and he had to find a credible way to dissapear? I think it is more than just plausible, it's likely.
