Meanwhile, actual measurements of radioactivity of Pacific seawater remain at the usual 14 Bq/liter, most of which is just good ole K40, and the measurement for Cs137 is about 1.0 Bq/m^3---which would be 0.001Bq/liter, but that's too low to measure. [link to ourradioactiveocean.org] Fukushima Bay has obviously had elevated radiation levels, and no one should eat a fish caught in Fukushima Bay, but there has not been any documentation of elevated readings in seawater outside the Bay that I can find. _______________ They let me off with a warning and a couple of bullet holes. |

As I've said many times, this is a very serious long term event. People have and will die. But let us keep this in perspective. A google maps search around area 51 reveals hundreds of craters from nuclear detonations involving multitudes more radioactive material. And then all the other nuclear tests around the world. But this one fucking core is death for the whole world? GTFO. |

The allowable safe level of drinking, if you trust the gubmint is 7400 Bq/m3. assuming, and it's hard to find the info quickly, that fukushima uses 120million m3 per year, and all of it is contaminated at that level and all of it is escaping into the ocean and there is no such thing as decay, then a simple calculation shows it would take about 1.2million years to get to 7400 bq/m3 Point is, that is a lot but compared to the ocean is nothing |

The time frame is up for debate, but it does dilute. As for your coffee example, it's weak. No pun intended. The ocean does mix water. It is constantly moving and to even come close to your coffee example it would be is what does your coffee taste like when you drop one grain of sugar into your 500gallon mug of coffee. I don't trust the government but I was wrong and the 7400 is for cesium. SR90 is 30000, so puts it in the millions of years. If I lived in fukushima, or tokyo, or bought fish that were caught near there, I would be more concerned, but it's not an ELE. or at least, not in the next 1000000 years. |

Dead crap all over the place in the Pacific. In every species, unprecedented deaths and some have disappeared "and they don't know why". The newest one........ Toxic Algae Bloom Hits West Coast; Scientists Say Deadliest and Largest Ever [link to en.yibada.com] To date, this deadly acid has already affected more than 100 people with seven fatalities, reports the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
