If Kosovo could separate from Serbia, why can't Texas, or Louisiana, or Florida, or South Carolina separate from the USA?

Kosovo was once part of Serbia.

Now it's no longer.

It's a precedent.

Why can't Texas, or Louisiana, or Florida, or South Carolina separate from the USA?

Of course they can separate from the USA. If you look at history, many countries have changed over time. Some became bigger... Others much smaller... some ceased to exist etc. Territorial integrity is bullshit if you look at history. Borders have changed, and will change and there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it.

The North winning the Civil War pretty much locked in the notion that States are NOT allowed to leave the Union.

Of COURSE they're "not allowed".

Since when has that ever stopped anyone?

I seriously doubt we were "allowed" to leave England back in 1776, but the Declaration of Independence pretty much laid out our argument as to why they could stuff that particular rule.

Looks like pretty soon it's going to be 50 countries.

It's going to be funny to see your comments when we Canadians can say things like "thanks to our sovereign military your tiny little countries are safe."

You guys are fucked and it's all your own faults cuz you can't stand eachother haha.

That's OK, the most common thing Americans share, regardless of heritage or location, is our near-universal disregard for Canada. Not active disrespect or hate, mind you, in fact if pressed many of us would admit we rather like Canada. We're just generally not aware of Canada because by and large it isn't important to us.

At all.

And unlike Mexico, which has a vibrant population throughout its entire expanse, north to south, east to west, with Canada - when you actually refer to "Canada" - let's face it... you're referring to "that area just barely beyond the American border".

Because past that is mostly empty wasteland, forever-frozen tundra, a few bears of various hues, and ice-monsters eerily reminiscent of Game of Thrones.

And I'm starting to not believe the Canadian Tourist Board about that last one anymore.
