If Kosovo could separate from Serbia, why can't Texas, or Louisiana, or Florida, or South Carolina separate from the USA?

The North winning the Civil War pretty much locked in the notion that States are NOT allowed to leave the Union.
Quoting: CrypticDreamer Of COURSE they're "not allowed". Since when has that ever stopped anyone? I seriously doubt we were "allowed" to leave England back in 1776, but the Declaration of Independence pretty much laid out our argument as to why they could stuff that particular rule.
