The problem is not that some vaccines are harmful, it is that there is such a shroud of secrecy and misinformation about vaccines that we, good honest parents, don't know what the fuck we're looking at when it comes to our kid's/kids' health.

This lack of knowledge leads to knee-jerk reactions on the part of us conspiracy theorist minded folk.

I would caution against that and merely suggest we pool resources to find the real culprits.

If your kid gets damaged you're still stuck with the kid for life. Very sad news.

Though only a few states call it mandatory it is already difficult to enroll without their vaccine record is up to date and is enforced by threat of family services being involved in many states as it is.

You can't go to school without all your vaccinations in MA. If you refuse vaccinations you xould very well lose your kids for a while.

That was before they began putting the "good" stuff into a bunch of really "bad" stuff. When you got a vaccination, that is all you got. No medical engineering or guinea pigging of children.

I remember standing in line to get my polio sugar cube. It was sort of holiday-ish, we'd been told that we were a part of History but we really didn't understand what it was all about. The stuff on the sugar cube tasted like a gas station bathroom smells, but the sugar cube made it OK.

Every administration of every vaccine on any particular child is experimental, no matter how healthy that child is:

Also I am laughing at some of these replies saying it's great these kids won't be in schools so all the infants and elderly and cancer patients will now be safe away from those who are not vaccinated.

For one, most adults are not up-to-date and do not have complete immunity to almost all of these diseases.

Secondly, by removing the children from schools...doesn't mean they are removed from the rest of society. Last I checked infants and the elderly don't hang out inside of K-12 classrooms. These children forced out of schools and into their own "homeschools" will undoubtedly show up in parks, zoos, pools and the like.. potentially "exposing" their "deadly" viruses to a even wider range of people. gg fools.

Yes, a parent who manages to keep their own children alive ARE doing a great job.

Don't you think there should be a significant amount of evidence that not vaccinating children increases their risk of dying before taking away a parents right to decide how to raise their own children?

I support any parent that chooses to vaccinate their children, as long as they aren't doing so just because their doctor tells them to. If a parent has researched the issue and weighed the risks, benefits, and consequences for not vaccinating, and then decide that they're going to vaccinate their kids anyway, they should have that right.

The evidence for and against is mixed, it's not a settled issue. Gardasil versus the tetanus vaccine is a perfect example. Kids have an increased risk of getting tetanus, as they tend to be more physically active outdoors than adults. The relative safety of the DPT vaccine versus the consequences of a child getting tetanus make choosing to give a child that vaccine pretty defensible.

Gardasil is a whole 'nother beast, one being ramrodded down people's throats by Merck. Since this vaccine is likely to be made mandatory, lets take a look at the details.

That's not called "fainting", that's a seizure.

So the risk of fainting and/or seizure after being given Gardasil is great enough to require Merck to advise physicians to have patients lie down for 15 minutes after receiving it.

We can clearly see where Merck is in the discussion of parents rights based on the last line in the warning, "Only a doctor or health care professional can decide if GARDASIL is right for your child." Only a doctor can decide. Not parents. Parents decisions/opinions don't merit mention by Merck.

A relative has her children enrolled in a charter school in California, 40% of the students are unvaccinated, the school will have to close down, as the parents will be homeschooling.
