Anonymous Coward User ID: 69733428 United States 07/11/2015 02:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's possible that we all can. Though it'd be interesting if to other people we were identifiable, just not to ourselves. No. The only thing you know about other people is what is in your mind about them, what you believe about them. The only thing other people know about you is what's in their mind about you, the stories they believe about you. It's all mind junk. No one's ever identifiable by another person, because "other people" (in the way you believe them to be) don't exist. They're just patterns and stories and memories you attach to a facial pattern that you label "Bob" or "Mary," but nothing you know or believe about Bob or Mary is ever what Bob or Mary actually ARE. The truth is, there's nothing going on here. There's no one. You're no one. The only thing "you" are is belief. Other than that, totally empty. |

Nexus-9 User ID: 18088444 United States 07/11/2015 02:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So, I've been noticing lately some anomalies. They relate to time, space and also people. Quoting: Pride of Pompeii It's sort of like I'm sitting in one of those fake mini-vans that they have in museums. You know the ones. You get inside. They close the doors. Then there is a movie screen playing, while the sound is pumping and hydraulics are tossing the van around. So, I've identified sensory events that repeat no matter where I go. They take up the same time slot, and they feel generally the same, but in different places they map into different events. I've identified people/souls that I've run into more than once. I love this one. It's beautiful. I love when I run into souls that I know. And, I've seen time loop, or timelines, as GLP-ers tend to call them. So, you can believe all of that, or you can believe that I am delusional/dreaming. In either case, my next question still stands. I can't identify who I am in this cosmic time wheel. Who am I? Seriously, I don't know. Judging from the reactions of other people towards me, I'd say that I'm something that they want on their side, but that they never fully trust, and feel they have to monitor and test constantly. I hate that, by the way. I understand their concerns, but it's no fun for me. So who am I? Unfortunately I have no idea. Not even a guess. I can't find anyone else like me, past, present or future. The fictional character of Shane I identified with, but that's fiction. I know the feeling. It's weird. It's like being dropped in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with no waves. There's no sense of reference, no baseline. No sense of beginning or end. Just "poof" you're here and can't remember a gotdamn thing where you were before the moment. "Fiery the Angels rose, & as they rose deep thunder roll'd Around their shores: indignant burning with the fires of Orc" - William Blake, America a Prophecy (...also misquoted in Blade Runner by Roy Batty) "Tempus est optimus iudex" - "Time is the best judge" "The very word "'secrecy'" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings." - John F. Kennedy, New York City, April 27, 1961 |

It's not a philosophy, to me. It's experiential. But Advaita Vedanta probably comes closest. |

Wise words. Funny how we fight it, though. How we blame the mind for its tendencies, when we're the ones giving it all the credit and interest. It's just showing us what it's programmed to show us, which is that which we show interest in. We've been running the show the whole time. And, the cosmic joke there is, we're nothing to begin with. What a hoot this whole thing is. What a miracle. What a tragedy. What a comedy. |

With no role to play, with no projection of who I am from others, it seems the only certainty is my existence and its purpose utterly baffling. Anxiety has driven me to this place before. BUT the world is more than you or I, and we choose who we are. There is meaning, I believe. There is so much beauty in this world, so much love. I don't know why, but those aspects I observe help me break the rusty chains that bind me inside my mind. Connecting with others or simply watching birds. You have to choose your path. No one can live your life for you. The philosophy you read about just now is nihilism. It is the belief that nothing matters. It is terrible and I hope you do not succumb to it as I have in the past. Live and find who you are. Take risks and find trust. Give yourself and you will find people giving in return. Cherish the kindness you can do. I choose to be a good person. Well I try to be. |
