Plutonium levels 10,000,000 times normal in water below Fukushima reactors

by dunrenard

Plutonium levels 10,000,000 times normal in water below Fukushima reactors — Plutonium hit record high off coast in 2014 — “Has been transported relatively long distances” – Every sample taken from rivers flowing into Pacific had Pu-239, Pu-240, Pu-241,and Pu-242 from plant

Scientists from Japan’s National Institute of Radiological Sciences, Hirosaki University, and Peking University (pdf), May 2015 (emphasis added): Pu Distribution in Seawater in the Near Coastal Area off Fukushima… the amount of Pu isotopes directly released into the marine environment remains unknown. In the high level radioactive accumulated water collected at the FDNPP after the accident, high level radioactivities of Pu isotopes (ca. 10-3 Bq/mL) were detected. These values were 6 to 7 orders of magnitudes [1,000,000 – 10,000,000 times] higher than that of the seawater in the western North Pacific. In addition, a new study on Pu isotopes… suggested there was a potential sediment-borne Pu supply from Fukushima coastal rivers to the Pacific Ocean. Thus more attention should be paid to the contamination situation of Pu isotopes in the marine environment off Fukushima since the FDNPP accident… Pu isotopes in seawater… needs to be routinely investigated… There are two sampling sites close to the FDNP… 239+240Pu concentrations in seawater were reported in 2012-2014 and the range was from detection limit to 14 mBq/m3 except 31 mBq/m3 observed at T-2-1 site on 10 April 2014.

How much has reached the Land, Oceans and dispersed by air?

Man made isotope that won't go away. Deadliest man made substance ever....

very sad for our future.....

Umm ya!!! Why do you think canned tuna is on sale???

Its the same reason there is mysterious record mass die offs of every ocean creature known to mankind on the west coast on a daily basis.

They would like you to believe its from a strange algae bloom that stretches from Mexico to Alaska, lol

Just remember folks the ocean produces 80% of our oxygen.

And the California drought is man made, they are dispersing those radioactive clouds before they make land fall and have a chance to water our delicious California fruits and veggies...who wants a glass of Napa Valley wine??? me please!!! Where's your drinking water come from California???

These results are also garnished from the outlet of rivers in the surrounding countryside (at least the results they will make public).

This means that the Pu has been transported from a higher inland location(s), or by air and rain dispersal.

Pu is quite the heavy element, so for it to be transported by precipitation is quite astonishing; (or), as I believe, deposited far and wide during the initial explosions, as the core releases, continuing, will be somewhere underneath the reactors... and eventually, into the Pacific.

One of the isotopes listed (Pu-239) has a half life of about 24,000 years. In other words, in 24,000 years it will only be half as bad. Meanwhile that stuff is circulating around the Pacific Ocean irradiating everything it comes in contact with for thousands of years.

*edit* just notice the "JK". chuckle

The best part is the almost total media blackout. The majority of people have no idea what Fukushima even is and the people that have a slight idea think that its already been resolved.
The truth is 40 years is the best estimate for containment and clean up, and we are still one major earthquake away from extinction..
Japan is an export based economy so you better believe their ingredients are ending up in our frozen dinners and everything you can think of.

Why else would they be distracting everyone with Bruce Jenners penis wrapped in a confederate flag? you can bet we only hear 1% of the truth, the other 99% will be fed to us unknowingly

Actually South Korea was trying to ban Japanese exports, japan was trying to force feed them some food, I read the article a month or two ago.

heres a quote from the article

"Japan's representative told the WTO's SPS committee in March that radioactive levels in Japanese food had declined substantially since the accident. It noted that the United States Australia the European Union, Singapore and Vietnam had all lifted or eased their Fukushima-related restrictions."

Read "We almost lost Detroit". It is a pretty sobering account of the blatant disregard for nuclear safeguards and details the incipient and ongoing corruption and culpability of the nuclear industry.

Part of the forward to the article detailing the historical account of nuclear energy's acceptance as a power source is given below.

"Nuclear power is an unforgiving technology. It allows no
room for error. Perfection must be achieved if accidents that affect the general public are to be prevented.
WE ALMOST LOST DETROIT is a valuable addition to the literature of the debate swirling around nuclear power.
The book is well researched; it provides fascinating reading for anyone who is interested in the history of the nuclear program. The author provides an in depth review of the development of the Fermi liquid-metal fast-breeder reactor, using the Fermi accident as a vehicle to discuss the significance of the entire nuclear power industry, both in this country and abroad. In the course of this absorbing story, the causes and consequences of a number of nuclear accidents are described in a manner that is easily understood. For this is not a "technical" book meant only for the scientific community. It is written in a free flowing style that can be easily followed
by the layman."

Read the rest of the forward and continuing 265 page account at the link.
