That's a good point, Melvin Hastings. Governor Doctor Doctor Robert Bentley is the governor, not the legislature. What business is it of his what flags the legislature chooses to fly on its own grounds, and why didn't anybody question this when he unilaterally decided to take it down?

I usually like Dr, Bentley but he is overstepping his authority with this.

And he keeps raising our state taxes, too.

Maybe time for a change.

Like S. Carolina; only the LEGISLATURE has the POWER to remove the FLAG by STATUTE.

By STATUTE, the LEGISLATURE has delegate the authority to the Alabama Historical and Building Committee to decide what to do with relics on the capitol grounds. Bentley has no right to remove or replace anything.

can we get some more attorneys like him . A lot of us want this Nonsense stopped .

Start funding them, get us some links going on some that WILL ACTUALLY litigate this to the end. This flag that stood for States Rights may just wake up and do the same job again :)

In the case of South Carolina I thought the legislative branch had to repeal a law on the books via a lame but binding vote.

Did the governor in this case just overstep boundaries while completely ignoring the law?

Is Alabama codified into law that they must fly it?

Thanks for the Pin. Update: After the news yesterday; hundreds of individuals have come forward requesting to be made party plaintiffs. You will see them amended in today. Bentley can tell WHY he removed it; just cannot point to the legal authority. I know Hastings and his team will not go quietly into the night. The Battle is ON !

It's a matter of perspective. The Flags which were removed were not flying over the Capitol. They were erected at a memorial on Capitol grounds. Memorials honor the dead; not the cause.

I moved from Cali to Alabama thinking it was much better here. People had common sense. Ever since arrived in2010 Bentley is chasing brown to be the most liberal POS I have ever seen. He raises taxes, manages snowmaggedon like a fool, takes down the true heritage of the south, the rebel flag, stands by as gay marriage is approved, ...I mean REALLY!!!
People here should be outraged and hold a special election..what a POS
